900 bhp Mk2 Golf

lol @ 8s Camaros...

I saw a 600BHP Tomcat once eating everything that was funny :D (and that was only 10 second times).

Why has someone posted a 13 second Sierra?

That's like trying to race a milkfloat against a superbike.

to show that a fast car can be built for not a lot of pennies

that sierra had a 75 quid engine and a homebrew nitrous install.

i'm sure someone could build a 10 second car for 6 grand if they had the time and skills

The problem is as the time falls the cost go up exponentially.

still easy enough to get a 10 second car for 6k :) as long as you dont expect reliability along with that.

easy done with a rough e39 m5 and a big pile ot nitrous granted you might only get a half dozen runs but still a 10 second car

if you want reliability and performance though in one package you'r going to be spending a lot of money and as you say if you want this and want to increase the performance you need to up everything else.

You are not getting a 8s car for £6k end of. I've seen fair few american cars down the strip at York and they are hitting 10s. Pretty sure they have spent A LOT more than £6k on them.

Indeed guy from my old US Q3 clan spent about $30,000 (not sure if thats all on mods for 1/4 times) on his Cammy to get sub 10 second times and he wasn't hitting anywhere near 8 seconds.

the car blended in well with the other older v dubs.

but i would rather see a newer model get the speed treatment.

like others have mentioned, dude starts slow. not sure if its warming up or delayed reaction.

in general pretty impressive if we are talking about quarter miles.

Newer VWs have much heavier shells and engines need a lot more work to get that kinda stuff out of them compared to the older units.

so true
my mates v8 buick with a 550hp engine does 9.5s and he`d love it to have cost just 6k lol

with regards to all the slow launch claims, I really doubt the guy cares about reaction times moreover he will be focussed on getting a decent launch, delaying the start till you are prepared is much better than feeling forced to launch at a particular interval.

If you mean he is slow off the mark then I would expect he has a decent amount of lag to contend with too bearing in mind he is running one of these
