Face Unlock

Android 4.0 introduces a completely new approach to securing a device, making each person's device even more personal — Face Unlock is a new screen-lock option that lets you unlock your device with your face. It takes advantage of the device front-facing camera and state-of-the-art facial recognition technology to register a face during setup and then to recognize it again when unlocking the device. Just hold your device in front of your face to unlock, or use a backup PIN or pattern.

sounds good, looks like i wont need to theme it either ( well except for a percentage battery).

no need for go launcher, folder organizer or 3g watchdog anymore when i move to ICS. If the built in player plays divx/xvid i can uninstall rockplayer as well.

still undecided if i'm just going to grab a sim free GN or stick with the desire until April, looks like Adam will be updating oxygen to ICS for the desire.

Except it can be fooled by just holding a picture of that persons face to the phone and it'll still unlock :p Not much use if it's to stop your mates from getting on it when it's lying around

I'd probably only use it as a gimmick then go back to my normal pattern unlock.
 
face unlock really isnt a good feature, certainly not a useful feature to me. I doubt apple will try and copy it.

Don't have a Front facing Camera on my Arc anyhew!!..

Sony have announced the 2011 series of phones will get ICS, so just need to wait now!! :)

The new UI might drag me away from GO Launcher EX... unless Voda reeaally mess with it!! (still not unbranded my phone!)

Its not really "fooling" it is it though... Its looking at your face and picking up the characteristics (ill be surprised if thats spelt right!) so taking a clear picture is just copying your face with them characteristics.

Wait for the finger printer scanners and eye retina stuff!
 
I bet an app will come out that uses the tech to decide whether the person in front of the camera is ugly or not.

People would buy it.

Not me though, I know I'm no oil painting without a phone telling me. :D
 
Guys Face Unlock was never designed as a security thing.
Its a convenience
When you switch your screen on it auto-unlocks - saving the time to swipe etc.
