Just some venting/wondering if anyone else had the same thing happen. I bought something from a seller on a forum, he posted it first class (not recorded) on Monday, it hadn't arrived so I contacted him and he showed me a proof of postage. Fast forward to today, I get a card through the door saying that they were holding it due to 'insufficient postage paid' and I have to pay £1.12 to get my item, of which £1 is a handling fee!!

Utterly ridiculous, they guy went in the post office, they weighed it, he paid what they quoted him and now they have decided it wasn't enough!! Not only that, but they have charged a £1 handling fee when they haven't actually handled it, it's just sat in the bloody post office.

Yes I know it's only £1.12, but that's not the point, the correct amount they originally charged him was paid at the time of postage, and now I have to go out of my way to pick it up and pay the plucked-out-of-thin-air fee!!

Grrrrrrr.......

Odd that they got the weight wrong. He should go in and complain.

PS OMG £1.12 WHO CARES YOU'RE SO TIGHT!!

Just thought I may as well fill that retard niche while I was here.

If it came through a post office then its the post offices fault for not putting the correct postage on it - not royal mails fault, the seller needs to take it up with the post office.

I really cant understand why there is one of these threads every couple of weeks.

I'd get a copy of the proof of postage take it in to show it was sent from a post office and tell them to shove their fee, cheeky beggers.

Did he just stick the stamps on himself though? He might not have sent it through the post office who should have weighed it and put the correct amount of postage on it.

If it came through a post office then its the post offices fault for not putting the correct postage on it - not royal mails fault, the seller needs to take it up with the post office. If he just stuck a 1st class stamp on it and didn't realise there are weight + size limitations on a stamp then again it has nothing to do with royal mail.

I clearly stated he took it into the post office, they weighed it, he paid the postage. Thread title states it's a rant thread, nobody asked you to open it. The back button is up there on the left ^^^^

Ahh chill out will ya.

My point still stands, its not royal mail deliveries fault if someone in the post office didn't weigh it properly.

This happened to me when I paid for a birthday present for my friend. He ended up paying a couple of quid even when I had paid the postage in full online!

This would have annoyed me too so you're not alone op lol.

RM does seem to be a pain in the arse to deal with these days.

I foresee many more Royal Mail Rants coming along this Christmas. Would be interesting to see what the biggest problem people moan about.

OMGZZZ i paid 34p for first class and it did not arrive 2 hours after i sent it!
OMGZZZ i was out and my postie did not leave my item on the door step!
OMGZZZ i was in yet the postie posted a did not answer card, i did not answer but OMG!

At least your postman delivered the card to your door. My local postman seems to deliver post to every address except the one that it is supposed to go to. My favourite recently being:
postman - "Heres your post, Sign for this one please"
me - "no"
postman - "why not?"
me - "because its not addressed to me!"
postman - ".... .... oh yeah"

I'm glad I earn enough not to worry about £1.12 or feel the need to go and waste more time complaining.
