Life's Too Short: New Ricky Gervais sitcom

Late to the party, but the Liam Neeson sketch was hilarious. Jonny Depp was also good, but not quite up there with Liam.

It's way too much like David Brent for me, though. The trick that they're using in uncomfortable comedy is getting a bit much for me now though - getting repetetive. Slip up on something uncomfortable, like a tumour, then have an excruciating conversation in explaining why it wasn't insulting, repeat. Etc.... etc.... etc.....

I quite liked the second episode too :)

Feel a bit like "seen it all before" as I'm a massive office and extras fan. I'll still watch it each week though.

Second episode was much better than the first.

Part of me though can't help thinking that it is far too similar to the Office, but set in the world of Extras. It's almost like it was too easy for Gervais and Merchant and given how respected their writing is, you would have thought perhaps they could have done something altogether different.

Couldn't help but laugh out loud on the train at times, stronger second episode. Very true about the 'Brent'/'Extras' mix but I still find it funny.

omg the 2nd episode is amazing, i'm in stitches:D:D:D:D

saw the ewok/bear suit bit from a mile off though:p

Second episode was good.

Sure this is re-packaged from The Office and Extras... but it's still bloody funny.

Second episode was great, the first was a bit weak.

Strangely enough, I thought the brainstorming bit with his assistant was the funniest bit.

First episode was very "meh" apart from Liam Neeson who gave me a few good laughs. Second episode seemed a lot better overall but it does just feel like a repackaged extras.

The only thing that annoys me is that they didn't think up a better premise for why he has to go see Ricky and Steve. It's almost like they thought, "how can we get Ricky and Steve into this show?... How about he just goes round there for no reason? Sounds good."

Glad Barry is back - guaranteed laughs for scenes with him in.

Watched this last night and you can instantly tell who is behind it with the style of jokes. Its so Ricky.

Was really funny and will watch the rest but I wish it had its own style of comedy.

First ep was rubbish and wasn't much that funny about it at all, didn't think the Liam Neeson bit was all that either.

Second EP was much better but that was purely down to Depp I think. He's so kinda wacky like his Fear and loathing character. His Gervais jokes were brilliant and the way he went about it.

Echo what someone else said it basically feels like its a chance for Gervais to show off these famous people he now knows "oo lets see who I can get on next week".

Bit weak overall with the odd laugh.

I quite enjoyed both episodes so far, some scenes were a bit cringe worthy (star wars wedding anybody?). You can deffinatly tell Ricky Gervais is behind it. Loved it when Jonny Depp was 'Studying' Warwick as well brilliant.

I love, love, love The Office, but this feels really forced. It kinda feels like Ricky Gervais is a bit of a one-trick pony. A very good one-trick pony, but still...Extras, The Office and Life's Too Short - they are all headed by the exact same character.
