The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Thieves guild spoilers:

Wow. Finding the 24 barenziah stones gives the most overpowered reward of all time. It's a perk/active effect that gives more chance of finding gems in chests. What it doesn't you is that is massively increases the chance. Like, I'm finding flawless diamonds, sapphires and other things worth 500+ gold in literally every chest and urn, even if there's just 5 gold in them.

Nice! Are gems useful for anything other than selling? I have a bunch of them in my inventory and wondered if they were worth hanging onto.

You can get you smithing up by crafting new jewlery from the gems you have. Dunno if you can make enchanted amulets or not from gems, not really into smithing or enchanting.

Ah of course. I forgot about making jewelry. I have totally neglected smithing in my playthrough. Might have to get around to training it up at some point.

Very happy with what's happened recently. Finished the Dark Brotherhood quests, and picked up a lovely little dagger :) EPIC quest line too, loved every bit of it.

Then, while casually going about my business, have a chance meeting with Krosis. Not exactly prepared for that, I must say.

But, the results have pleased me massively!

So I'm really struggling to kill any giants, even with 2 companions helping me. I can't get away from the giant fast enough and keep getting stomped, or mashed with his club. I'm level 5 and have limited spells of flames, sparks, and conjuration of a familiar which is a wolf. I've been advised to go to winterhold to train up on spells, is that the best option right now, and what is this icy looking stamina sapping spell called in the video ? I want it!

I'm level 34 and still haven't even considered killing a giant or mammoth yet...I'm too peaceful :p

Giants are pretty hard to kill. I generally avoid them if I can, as they pretty much ignore you if you ignore them and keep your distance.

You should think about going to the college, especially if your playing a mage. You'll get access to way better spells and gear.

Just got a tasty amulet (at least I think its awesome being the noob that I am - level 18), gives you +30 Health, Mana and Stamina :D

Epic quest line as well to go with that beaut as well ;)

Managing to get my Magicka up to the dizzy heights of 560 now :D

Must. Get. Higher!

Yeah, I'll avoid this giant, finish my quest, then go to the college.
When you say playing a mage, what does that mean? I like using magic, but is there something in particular that defines me as mage?

Been reading through the thread when I can, currently on page 188 but I have a question to ask about enchanting.

Little confused, I thought when you disenchant an item you learn that items enchantments.

So how come when you disenchant say a mage robe with 15% less to cast destruction spells and 75% magika regeneration. When you then go to enchant an item the stats are like 5% less to cast destruction spells and 15% magika regeneration.

confused :S

As far as I know, because the version you learn from disenchanting is always a weaker version of the spell on the original item. Dunno if theres a way to increase the amount your new learned enchantment has or not.

The magnitude of the enchantment is determined by your overall enchanting skill, the perks you've selected in that tree and the size of the soul.

So an enchanting skill of 10, with no perks and a petty soul will give you a pretty pants enchantment. A maxed out enchanting stat and skill tree with a grand soul gem will give you about that level of enchantment if not more :)

I've managed to enchant a +54 Magicka ring with a skill level of 78, so I dont know what its going to be like maxed out

Dunno if it's already been posted but seen this and lol'd hard. :p
