Cool thanks for the recommendations :)
Out of all those, I would probably pick the ship inn. The rest I find are either too expensive or lacking choices. The red house is also ok.

I'm from London, of course I'm gonna say there's not a lot in comparison to London :p

The Red House is out of Chester a little bit.

Just thought of http://www.chezjules.com/ too, which is a French place.

There's also a good Indian, the Chester Tandoori.

Didn't like the look of Dutton's - their menu is more like a lunch menu with lots of sandwich options.

Sergio's looks good. I didn't check out the menu properly earlier on as I was in the car when browsing it and the font put me off reading!

What's the difference between Piccolino's and Sergio's though? Both Italian, except that Piccolino's is a chain. But just because it's a chain doesn't mean it won't be as nice?

Wasn't it Piccolinos that we went to at the London meet? If so, it was pretty poor...

Sergios is cheaper and there are more dishes that I can actually eat.

Duttons do main dishes as well. Obviously if the majority want to go elsewhere then no skin off my nose I will go somewhere else :)

Ugh Carluccios were rubbish they only had one dish I could eat and it wasnt very nice.

Alright then!

To make this easier, I am going to try and get a table for 4 at Upstairs at the Grill for Friday night.

If you are a lover of very good food, don't really want to eat at a generic Italian and don't mind being away from the people you'll be spending the whole of Saturday with for a couple of hours, let me know and I'll firm things up.

If the interest isn't there, no harm done! If there turns out to be more than 3 other people that want this option then I will try and get a bigger res :)

I'll be in work till 6 on the 9th (I work in town), so I may join up with some of you on the Friday night. I'm sitting on the fence as to where though :p

Why not do Duttons then to accommodate as many tastes as possible?
