Hi ladies and gentlemen,

I've ordered a new system which will be coming tomorrow :D :D :D :D :D

And was wondering whats a good 24/7 overclock ?

It will consist of :

Intel i7 2700k
MSI Z68A-GD65-G3 Intel Z68
Antec Kúhler H2O 920
G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Corsair Airflow Dual-Channel Fan

Im fairly new to over clocking, complete noob to the sandybridge, gave my old AMD 4800fx (socket 939) an overclocking to within an inch of its life though haha

But I've been studying the guide on here and am fairly confident that I can do it, so any and all help you guys n gals can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

from what ive seen its not worth swapping a 2600k for a 2700k with the cash you will loose

only a small amount less volts

so maybe the people with bad chips stay quiet lol

Luckily i'm not swapping from a 2600k, I'm swapping from a 2.6GHz Intel core 2 Duo, and only £14 more than an oem 2600k plus a free BFIII.

Win win me thinks

Reading over the links, I see 4.5 - 4.7 seems to be very popular, so I think I will aim for 4.6 and go from there...

Although I'm probably gonna get greedy and try for 5 hahaha

Cant wait, I ordered an over clocked bundle from scan....... and sent it back because the overclock kept failing... taken 4 weeks to get my money back, and managed to price up a better system here for less than £50 more (spent the extra on the antec kuhler)

Guy in sales at over clockers said I will have my hardware tomorrow, I'm soooo excited I'm like a kid at christmas (I'm 29) probably not going to be able to sleep tonight hahahhaa

Thanks again guys for the info !!

I can't see the point in that either tbh, I spent a whole while contemplating whether to go 2700 or 2600, but at the price and the free game it seemed silly not to really

24/7 you'll be looking at either 4.6 for a VERY comfortable overclock, 4.8Ghz for high-end air. And then 5Ghz which is only really suitable for benching or extreme cooling.

Thanks, reckon 4.7 will be "comfortable" for an antec kuhler 920 ?

4.6 mate - anything above requires more than 1.3v which can start to make heat output 'uncomfortable'.

tbh I've got a Corsair H100 and run it 24/7 at 4.6 aswell - 4.8 is only just do-able and I'd rather not stress things. 5Ghz is serious cooling territory only

awesome, thanks !!
Will do that now, been running it all day on 4.7 @ 1.35
So will drop the voltage and set to 4.6

Thanks again you've been really helpfull !!
