I basically need a new PC as mine is outdated, and I have been asking if my specs are good but I have no idea what to get.

I only need a PC, no mouse, monitor etc.

Budget is around £1,000 but lower would be nice.

Will be using PC mainly for gaming with games such as Mw3 / BF3, etc. Would like good quality.

(Price doesn't need to be exactly £1,000 or under, just around the price)

Do you have any SATA drives? (harddrive and DVD for example) that can be re-used.

What about an operating system?

to get back on 95trifles good side, here's a spec suggested in another thread

No need to spend that much really, for less than a grand you can get solid system, eg this

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus GeForce GTX 570 DirectCU II 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £245.99
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £167.99
1 x Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £145.99
1 x Corsair Graphite 600T Midi Tower Case - Black £129.98
1 x XFX 850W Black Edition Modular '80 Plus Silver' Power Supply £122.99
1 x Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) £49.99
1 x Antec Kúhler H2O 620 CPU Watercooler (Socket Intel LGA 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / AMD AM2 / AM3 / AM2+ / AM3+) £44.99
1 x Pioneer 24x Internal DVR-S19LBK DVD Rewriter including Labelflash - Retail £18.98
Total : £943.40 (includes shipping : £13.75).

i7 offers nothing over i5 in terms of gaming
570 is almost as good as a 580 at a fraction of the cost
Gen3 mobo so an element of "future proofing"
850W PSU would support a 2nd 570 for SLi if required

can make a few changes if you need to add hdd & os

can save £10 on the ram and £23 on the psu

oh and the triple slot cooler on the graphics card isn't suitable for sli, change to either 560ti or 6950 if you plan on sli\xfire in future.

560ti http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-267-AS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1341

I do have a 500GB hard drive, but I doubt it's any good, either way I'm thinking of getting 1TB since 500gb is a little tiny.

I do not believe I will be going Sli, so that's good enough.

Also an SSD would be nice, just to make the PC overall a little faster.

I really like the build you offered above, but would it be able to make Overclockers to build that? Since I'm not so experienced in building PC's

Also I was looking at cases, what do you think about these two instead?

Fastest single gpu on the market;)

Fastest single gpu on the market;)

60GB SSD is enough for me, using the cash from that I'd rather upgrade some of the other parts

To me it looks like I spend most of my budget on those 2-3 parts and make the rest lower quality so it fits the budget, as I said it can go over the budget.

if the 500gb is sata disk and you can wait a few months I suggest waiting as the prices are crazy(1tb for £100+ where as they where less than half that at around £40 before the price hikes last month).

you'll be able to use the £110 to improve the rest of the specs.

and yes you can give ocuk a call and ask them to put it together for you, tho they seem to hate the gelid trnquilo for some reason.

The case is one of the better air cooling cases so will do a good job of dumping the heat out created by that MSI GTX580.

Is there a difference between

Silverstone Raven 3 RV03B-W Full Tower Windowed Case - Black/Gold
£109.99 inc VAT £91.66 ex VAT

and RV02?

The version 3 seems to be cheaper, is it better?

Other than that, I think I may be getting this exact build.

nbbtht.png

any more suggestions?

They both have that rotated board design, the RV02 you would have on your left as thats the side the board faces. the RV03 you would have on your right side.

The RV02 features three 180mm fans in the floor, the RV03 has two.

The two videos above show them off better.

I'll go with RV02 then I suppose :)

Thanks guys.

This build should run BF3 / MW3 at high settings, right? :)

I'll be buying this soon-ish (Most likely 2012 Feb)

One last question, how long do you think this will last until I will need to upgrade it?

2 years? depends on the rate of game development and the also the resolution of your screen can play a factor. remember you didn't ask for SLI, so any upgrade of the GPU will mean selling the GTX580 you have and replacing it with whats latest and greatest..
