Does anyone know if the Platinum edition of GT5 is fully up to date patchwise? I'm thinking of getting it but don't feel like downloading 1GB+ of patches via the PS3's flakey wireless connection.

I was hoping it would be up to the 2.0 update, but I've searched and searched and can't find a definitive answer. Guess I'll leave it for now then and put the cash towards something else.

Has it been released yet? If not then it might be better waiting until there's more information on it. :)

Yes it is. Because then I'd also have to remove the TV from it's mounting, lug it down a flight of stairs and then halfway across the house.

Is there no way that you can use another TV in the house, one that's nearer to the router? I'm guessing you don't have a wireless network or anything like that? The speed probably won't be as good as through a cable, but I suppose you could leave it on overnight if at all possible. :)

ebay 30/50 metre cat5 cable for a fiver/seven quid

plug in update go have a cuppa, unplug and put it away till you need it again

I only have the one TV. The wireless network is fine, it's just that the PS3 won't stay connected for some reason and on the rare occasion when it does the speeds are absolutely dire (took 2.5 hours to download a 30MB patch not long ago). That's despite everything else on the network (laptops, phones, picture frames, and strangely the TV which sits right next to the PS3) getting nigh on full speed across the board.

Guess I'll have to invest in a couple of 30m Cat5 cables and bodge them together somehow.

Either of these?

If the wireless is slow, leave it downloading overnight?

If you can't afford a cable, how the fk did you afford the game?

You have absolutely no other screen available to you? No desktop PC?

Just get some cheap HomePlugs, that's how I've got my PS3 connected. Think I paid about £35 for my ones.

Tracking back to the original question, rather than the connectivity issue - The Platinum edition was released at the beginning of September, Spec II was released mid-October IIRC. Go and buy a cable OP :p

In all fairness one of the best part of GT5 is playing online, which if your PS3 connection is that bad won't be very good either so just forget it.

If you can't justify buying a 50m cat5 for £6 to get the most out of your PS3 then I don't know what to say, get a WiFi booster or something because you're missing out on a lot of good stuff for no reason.
