***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

From what i've seen and read it can only be a hardware problem. Now is it just affecting the first batch as in a component issue? Or is it a deep lying design flaw that will need a full recall? Only time will tell.

I hadnt noticed this issue, but i spend most of my time in wifi or 3g coverage but I just managed to reproduce this easily and at will

I switched off wifi and ticked the "only use 2g" option under the Mobile Networks settings and then went to the web browser and tried to load the BBC news page. The volume control then goes mental as has been descibed.

Pretty poor show from their QA deparment tbh.

Ill fire off an email to support tomorrow.

A statement from Clove
We are aware that some users that purchased handsets from other outlets last week have reported problems with the volume changing erratically. We have been in touch with Samsung regarding this and have been told that our stock has since been through an additional quality control check and should not have the problem. Nonetheless, we will also be testing several handsets ourselves to check for the problem this evening.

I take it with a pinch of salt.

I haven't experienced this yet but I'm on Orange.
Does this problem mean that if I'm using my phone and someone I know is on O2/Vodafone that I could experience this problem if our phones are close?

I'm just looking to clarify things as I plan to have a chat with Phones4U tomorrow to see what they say.

That sounds like a 'please don't stop ordering from us' plea to me.

So, this is turning out to be a pretty widespread problem, then. I'm not convinced this is the kind of thing that is going to get fixed in software either, unless the can bodge it somehow?

Might not pick one up after all!

Only if the person you know has their phone placed right next to yours and is actively using 2G whilst browsing/making a call.

If you meant will it exhibit the problem when ringing O2/vodafone users, the answer is no.

^ My work mobile is a nokia on o2, I generally carry my personal and work phone together. If I got a nexus next week with my three sim I assume it would effect me too then

At this point I am actually glad CPW never had stock day one!

Yeah does the same thing for me here.

Well I got my dispatch email from 3.

But I am worried about this sound problem and potential lack of er filtering :(

Im not tired and I need to be awake from 8 am, got my galaxy nexus, I5 2500k and MSI Z68 GD65 all coming tommorow. Then I need to sort out a huge old stuff clearout sale.

Thanks for the clarification. I actually have a O2 P&G sim on it's way to me, wanted to check coverage. I'll see how it goes.

Still going to have a Online chat with Phones4U tomorrow just to see what they are saying.

Not to question someone's integrity.........but that depends who you ask. Most hardcore android fans hate the guy, as he really is all about his own self publicity, and the information he provides is rarely accurate. But his name carries weight with some. Me, I am not sure, but I hope he is right.....
