The Gadget Show - Not in HD?...

Why would you want it in HD? Just so you can see what ever Apple product they are pushing this week?

And please for the love of god stop talking about "tech", no one, NO ONE uses that phrase other than the presenters.

indeed. Ironic.

Perhaps it's because Suzy Perry will actually look her age lol

There's actually absolutely nothing ironic about it (I wish people would learn what ironic actually means).

Yes! It's always so out of date and I really do not trust the researcher's conclusions - those I have watched are weak at best.

For the most part it is out of date, and to me it's just a bit of light entertainment because some of the stuff they show is pretty interesting in terms of actual gadgets. I think too many people expect too much from it, as if they're going to talk in depth about water cooling and high end overclocking or something.

They really do need to stop saying "tech" so much though and they really need to get rid of "Jon", he spoils the show I think because of how much of a massive fuddy-duddy he is. It seems like he'd struggle using a microwave without a script and instructions. :p

Oh do shut up

You're wrong - it is absolutely ironic that a TV show Devoted to, amongst other things, reviewing the latest Audio visual equipment including regular review of HD camcorders and large screen TV's has not adopted Hd itself.

it was a light hearted comment so please take your attitude elsewhere you utter child.

edit: oh and please don't embarress yourself by retreating to the pathetic notion that that the word gadget actually means what it used to. the show reviews and discusses something becoming prevalent in modern society and has not adopted it itself.

Nope

It's not ironic, if you actually look up what ironic means you'll see it's not ironic. I do agree that considering the content they cover on the Gadget Show it's stupid that they're still broadcasting in Standard Definition, however it's not ironic. Maybe you've listened to Alanis Morisette's "Ironic" too much or something?

it was a light hearted comment so please take your attitude elsewhere you utter child.
Why are you getting so emotional?

How is it pathetic? A TV isn't a gadget though is it? Wow you're getting really emotional over this, does it kill you inside each time you're corrected or something? You're so happy to go on and on about how wrong I am while showing a weird example of how you don't like to be told you're wrong.

Woah, anger!

Nope

yeah kinda don't like snide comments and/or people telling me I'm wrong when I'm not.

It's genuinely difficult to describe in words how wrong you are so I'll let a dictionary do the talking...

three dictionary definitions;

1) interesting, strange or funny because of being very different from what you would usually expect

2) ironic - Something is ironic if the result is the opposite of what was intended; an ironic event is an incongruous event, one at odds with what might have been expected.

3) happening in a way contrary to what is expected, and typically causing wry amusement because of this:

So please stop typing you are wrong -

the show reviews HD products....regularly - thats why its ironic NOT because of the word "gadget" in the shows title - do you get that?

I also quite clearly said Hd camcorders amongst other things also so you're wrong on both fronts unless you don't believe the item in the below review is small enough to be classified as a gadget..

Thanks for the useful info Kylew , It inspired to me to pick up a dictionary and look up some definitions.

Turns out I still think I was right, nevermind eh!

Mods, get out of bed already, this thread would be perfectly suitable in a sub-forum for TV. Hypocrites.

The discussion is a little more general, so kind of reasonable here.

Why does it bother you?

I don't mind TGS tbh, it's something to watch on a monday night, you'll always get the hypocritical ones that complain, same with top gear though, simple solution though, if you don't like it, don't watch it. That's what i tend to do anyway, i didn't fancy Downton abbey for example, so i didn't watch it, therefore i have nothing to complain about.

Now, about it not being in HD, no answer really, it looks fine upscaled on my 47" HD telly. I could understand if it were a nature program etc, HD would really show itself off, but for a show set mainly in a studio, it's just additional costs for the producer that really isn't needed, i'd prefer them to keep costs on the competition prozes :p

Appologies for the thread de-rail.

Seriously dude are you a psychologist or something, if not you've got the questioning approach down perfectly and should consider a career change :p

Back on topic it's not filmed in HD as it is a chanel 5 production and they have no money and no HD chanel of there own so why would they go to the expense. Add to that the fact that the majority of people do no watch HD transmissions and the fact the the show would benefit very little from the HD format why would they?
