Hi

I am looking to build a new rig for around £1500 (non vat inclusive prices as a I live outside the UK)

Was thinking of going for a single 580 GTX but after reading around and looking at benchmarks I think I would get more bang for my buck with 2 570 GTX's in SLI

The only thing I have my mind set on is this case http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-022-NX

Ideally I would want more than 6GB ram and a SSD boot drive.

I would be looking to overclock so a good CPU cooler and decent mobo is a must, I7 also.

Can anybody help?

Thanks

I mean, one 580 at 1080p is really good, so this is perhaps overkill. Really depends how much you wanna spend. Also hard drive prices are silly if you could wait on that and just buy the SSD at the moment

I've said it a few times before, no need for 1kw for 580 sli 850w is enough.
either way I'd prefer the corsair ax850 or the tx850m(modular) or if you want 1kw then the hx1050

Thanks for the help

I was under the impression that for 2 power hungry 580's and OC I would need at least a 1000 wat PSU.

Also I was looking at this HDD http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-336-WD I value speed over size as I doubt I would fill 2 TB anytime soon.

I am going to see if I can fork out a bit more cash and get the 2 580's if not I can always order 1 decent 580 and get the other one in a month or two.

I know I should be able to run Skyrim on max with either a single 580 or 570, battlefield 3 seems like a different story and I think I will need the SLI 580's to kick it in the butt at high reso.

I don't require a mouse and keyboard atm as I can use my old ones for the time being and I have a copy of windows 7.

The postage is going to cost me around £130 but I have not factored that into the build cost because I have that money set aside.

If you're going to overclocking the 580's then you are right 850W isn't going to be enough. Its also nice to have some head room with them anyway. link

the wd black 1tb at £164(3136 exc vat) is a serious waste of money, you don't need the disk to be speedy(even then a sata 3 mechanical drive wouldn't be that much faster than a sata 2 drive) as the ssd will be the one to install the programs you need the speed boost in. the samsung spinpoint f3 will be a better choice.

get the 256gb ssd(£250 exc vat) insted if you need more room

Just an update, I finally ordered the PC. Came in £100 under budget (even with the £130 international courier charges) Specs can be seen on my sig. Will be posting build pics, OC and temps if anyone is interested.

also got a 1250 watt PSU because the 1000 Watt PSU's were sold out and I will be purchasing a second 580 soon and will be OCing the cards.

Looking forward to the build. Unfortunately I won't be home till the 19th December (currently doing work training in the UK).

I am looking for a 4.6ghz OC on my CPU which I think I should manage, if I am lucky with my chip I might try and push for the 5.0ghz.

Also a question will I be able to mount the cooler with the ram I ordered. Or anyway I could so so (I wouldn't mind sacrificing some of the RAM) didn't take into account the RAM height and the cooler.

I guess I could order another cooler since I was slightly under budget. Unless there another way (sacrificing some RAM temp till i get a new cooler). Or I could order new low profile RAM mmmm.
