The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

I can't believe how much I've played this game, how am not even bored yet and how I KNOW I'm going to play this again after I've completed it!

This could be the best game I've ever played.

Oh God this is becoming an obsession now. I was attacked by an assassin on the road heading into Windhelm and had an epic sword fight. Then a Frost Troll got involved and we both double teamed it and then turned back and continued brawling.

He almost had me but I got a few counters in and he tried to flee. I chased him and finished him off. I took the note he had from the Dark Brotherhood confirming someone had paid them to dispose of me, failure not an option. Signed by Astrid.

How do I go about finding out who took the contract out? Is it just a case of retracing my steps and working out who I could have ****ed off? If I join the Brotherhood, will they:

a) know a contract is out for me?
b) have info I can access about the contract?

It's become a mission now! I hate being wronged lol.

I only had 2 CTDs before the patch, both when I was flicking through menus quickly. It wasn't a big issue, but I applied the 4GB fix anyway and had no problems.

Now.. I still don't have any problems, but I need to go slowly through menus now just in case it happens again.

Not sure on this one, I had a Brotherhood assassin after me shortly after discovering Whiterun, killed them, took the note, but didn't really think any more of it. I hope that once you join the Brotherhood you get some answers about it.

Well usually there is walk and run, not a walk, brisk walk and sprint.... As I was moving faster than walking I assumed I was sprinting!

I did skim over the keybinds when looking for something specific, e.g the wait key or the quick spell menu.

anyway, who reads manuals... :p

FYI to anyone who has enchanting, you can only enchant the double perk if you apply both enchants at the same time. it's not possible to enchant once and then come back and do the other one later.

So if like me you enchanted your dragonscale set once, then got the double enchant perk, then tried to enchant the 2nd time, you will know why it doesn't work :P

From Reddit :D

That is one of the greatest things I have ever seen :D

a mod google it

I already did, found two mods but they both have bugs. People who have already tried them have experienced CTD's and others have said they managed to get it working but it left them with black bars at the bottom and top of their screen/window. The other one you could still see your taskbar in windows. So until someone updates them they dont really work at the moment.

These are the two I'm referring to:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39550

If you read the comments from people who have tried both you can see the problems they've had.

Seems a bit daft that you can't put the game in window mode + full screen by default, never known any other game to lack this feature myself.

Been playing this, somehow much easier to get into than Oblivion, I really like it.

Game used to crash every 10-15 mins, changed to 44.1 khz and 16 bit, and game is rock solid, have had sessions of 4 hrs and no problems at all.
Stupid developers, didn't they learn from the Fallout games not to **** up game stability with audio crap ?

Amazing imho how much interesting stuff, and details there are in such a large world for only a 6gb game. World also feels far more alive than Oblivion ( I somehow hated that but love this)

Only thing I have issues with is the whole weapon and spell system, I'm always messing about to get the weapon/shield/spell combo I want. Favourites system is still rubbish imho. Always spending more time than needed picking my weapon combo. I want 1 to be my bow, 2 to be my sword and shield, and 3-9 other stuff, but when I press 2, sometimes I get Sword + magic/spell instead of sword + shield :(.

Aside from that, I'm surprised it runs so great, 1920x1080, 4x MSAA, 16x AF, FXAA, everything else maxed/ultra. Not noticed 1 stutter, yeah the framerate sometimes does get a bit low ( about 25-30's, I believe, not checked the actual frame counter but teh framerate is lowered a bit sometimes), but for a slow RPG like this it doesn't matter, I'm surprised I've not had even 1 stutter unlike in Fallout games ( Atm on i7 @ 3.4 ghz, 12gb trichan 2000mhz ram, GTX570 and game & OS running from an SSD) even if turning around like an idiot or messing about.

Its also great to think how beautiful the game looks and it only uses a max of 2gb of RAM. Im using a 6870 and Q8200 @ 2.8 (normal HDD-not SSD) and i have everything set to max. Ill also be make the shadows look a lot nicer when i next play, and it seems there will be no slow down. Its great to know that 4 year old pc parts can still run decent games like this.

So THATs why all of a sudden i'm getting lousy performance and more CTDs then you can shake a stick at

Anyone else bind a weapon/spell to L & R hands but find the mouse buttons work opposite.

IE: Spell bound to left hand, have to click right mouse button to cast and vice versa.

It's driving me nuts!
