The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

I remember reading this a while ago- http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/11/skyrim-dlc/

Bethesda, Howard says, will follow the maxim of its previous game Fallout 3: Less is more.
“Very quick DLC might sell well, but that’s not our priority,” he said Monday in a phone interview with Wired.com.
“We’re not going to be doing a lot of it. Our high-level thinking is that there’ll be not as many [pieces of DLC], but they’ll be bigger and more substantial,” he said. “The goal overall is not necessarily to put out more content, but to make the game better.”

Howard says he doesn’t know if the downloadable content will be limited to new levels, or if the developer might use it to overhaul the game’s core features and mechanics, too.
I think i also read somewhere that the 360 will get most dlc first.

I saw some posts a while back about people running Skyrim in 3D, just wondered what sort of spec they have and what sort of level of detail you get?

Quite interested in what sort of graphics card I'd need, currently running it at 1280x1024 on a 5770 and it's beautiful. Expect I'd need something like an nVidia 570 to run it in 3D at 1920x1080?

Having said all that I don't have the cash at the moment anyway so by the time I do get the cash everything will have moved on. :)

I get frame rate drops on ultra on my 580 without 3D in some weird areas, but on high, even in 3D, I don't get any frame rate drops at all. Looks just as good to my eyes, though.

I'm level 55, and it makes no difference at all. Play at your own pace; you'll enjoy it more and discover more that way.

I remember someone saying in this thread that if you complete the main quest before level 50, then a kitten dies.. Well.. Kitten didn't make it :p I guess I'd be a lot higher if I did more side quests. Did start off doing more side quests than the main one, but once I got stuck in to the main, i just couldn't stop

I really want to be able to create spells again :( :( :(

Or just combine the spells that I have, so I could cast a FrostFireball, StormFireball etc

Yeah, I do tend to take my time and explore. It's so easy to miss really useful things like a chest tucked away in a corner which might contain a great item. I get distracted too when I'm on a quest and stumble across a new cave.

This^ Im only level 16, really taking my time, and if you walk along some of the roads, you meet all kinds of people.

I think I've done most of the side quests (60 hours of gameplay) but I still have to choose an allegience towards imperial or stormcloak and I just cannot decide. Ulfric puts me off because he seems racist and the imperials put me off because they gave in and are preventing the worship of talos...

I am leaning towards the imperials to keep the empire strong...

Just had an epic fight against 2 dragons at once, i don't think i would have made it without the Sanguine Rose though...

gotta say im loving skyrim,

im level 12 now, iv already had 6 random dragon attacks, (i like to explore lol)

the only thing about skyrim is it feels a bit lonely? mainly because its single player like all elder scrolls have been, but for example guards etc have helmets that you cant see there face, it just feels a bit grim and no ones kind really lol :p

still love it tho :)

I know what you mean, I'm really loving this game too, and I havent played the previous elder scrolls games either. This is best game I've had for a while for single player, previous to this I enjoyed god of war 3, dead space 1 & 2, mafia 2, metro 2033, they were all amazing single player but I've enjoyed Skyrim even more then all of those and I've been playing like anything from 3-6 hours per day since release.

The one thought that pops through my mind when going about the game is I kinda wish I had other people to play it with, I almost wish it was an MMO because it has such a big world, it would be cool to see 20 people slaying a dragon and obviously the game devs would give the dragons more HP and DPS so that it's balanced for more people...would be awesome to have big epic battles and have healers and tanks etc.

It almost feels like this game has so much deep content, and massive open world with dungeons, they could have gone one step further and made it into an MMO. I was thinking maybe in the future they will make an mmo because I reckon everyone would buy it and MMO's make game companies a lot of money when done right.

Just imagine when your playing skyrim you're riding your hose across the vast lands and you see people killing mobs/NPC's but you could also have PVP too and kill each other, have guilds/clans/corps etc, everyone on team speak/vent talking and enjoying the world of skyrim together.

Thats why I joined the Legion as well. The Empire isnt perfect and they've obviously been weakened by recent events with the Dominion, but dividing Skyrim from the rest of the Empire hardly seems a good way to secure lasting peace and safety for the region. Plus the whole racism thing.

I'm level 20 and just wanted to ask, I've heard people in this thread mention joining this faction or that faction and fighting a war, I havent come across any of this yet, will I be introduced to that stuff later in the game or is there somewhere I need to go to join a faction?

Also is there benefits for joining different factions and which do people recommend...any websites to explain all this?

Thanks in advance.

Oh god no, I've had my fill of MMO's with World of Warcraft.

This is much more fun not being an MMO in my opinion.

Co-op game play allowed maybe would be OK though, but even then the game would literally take hours and hours to finish, so you'd need some kind of drop in/drop out system.

So, at the end of Azura's quest you can...

...return the broken star to her, and get the regular Azura's star, or give it back to the elven mage and get the black star (re-useable black soul gem). Struggling to decide what to do. The black star seems like the better item, but also a more 'evil' choice. Also, I wouldn't want to **** off Azura ;-)

Black star is better. You can only consume humans but you come across loads and they provide the best souls.

Yeah, I realise it's technically better. But I'm playing a 'good' mage character - not an evil necromancer type. So I think Azura's might be more in keeping with my char

Well the star is a daedric artefact and you'll be returning it to a daedric worshipper. I'd consider that more evil. I actually went back to the shrine and captured her soul.
