lol they even made the chopper cannon more effective against infantry when it was perfectly fine the way it was, now it's very much OP against infantry and armor.

stinger is useless. just tried to down a jet, he had flares out each hit.


Stinger is as it was in the beta so it will not disable in one hit now, does 40% damage. It's fairly useless against a pilot with flares and stealth but still a deterrent that makes pilots run for cover.
 
So your own team mates dying no longer shows up on the screen then. Would have been nice to have known that before i started playing :(

Any body have a patch fix (ahem) list then??

To be fair, that was the way it always was, even before the patch.

I'm not sure I get the stinger hate. Bearing in mind it effectively take 2 hits to take out a jet it'd be crazy if one person with a Stinger could take down a jet/chopper, it'd be like making it easy for one person to take out a tank with the RPG.

If your own jet can't/won't take them out, if your chopper pilots won't take them out with their heat seekers, if you've no AA tanks or the driver is useless, you need to pair up with one team mate and then they're relatively easy to take down. One person locks on first and fires to get them to flare, and then you do the same. If none of the above works and you can't get a mate to team up with you then that's a team fail, not a stinger fail.

Regardless of the nerf, I can understand why they'd nerf them against scout choppers. I took one out by myself yesterday: hadn't realised a single hit disabled them. That's a little harsh.

Ive been saying this since about the second day of the game, when a pilot has stealth coupled with flares hes virtually untouchable from the ground. The flares reload far too fast and the lockon for the stinger takes ages when a pilot has stealth, also factor in the the missile travel time trying to catch upto the jet. All this just adds upto the jet getting time to pop flares whenever needed.

Apparently none of the testers at dice seen this as an issue when it was fairly obvious very early on. :rolleyes:


I can only assume their testers are skilled in the art of window licking first, and gameplay second.

Using them against the heli is even mroe hilarious as the co-pilot can set his options so he can have flares to deploy as well, so they have double the amount of flares to be annoying with.

I think a lot of of this could be resolved by removing the beeping sound that tells the pilots the missile has been fired, it should just be a lock on sound as it was in bf2, currently they know exactly when to deploy flares, with that fast beeping sound removed it would be mroe guesswork.

guys how to install the patch, i click on update in the browser, origin pops up to the games page, but nothing happens ?

any stand alone file ?

Remove the stealth to even things up. Not a perfect solution but at least it will help.
Even if you had a full squad of stinger carriers all trying to take out the plane, the lock on time, the travel of the missile plus the need for at least 2 of the stingers to hit makes the jet untouchable from the ground.
I agree that downing a jet with 1 stinger isnt fair either but i dont use jets, do they lose some speed and agility after 1 stinger??
If not then that is just plain daft.
