Tired of my bags getting searched when flying to America.

I said "generally", and also the most significant terrorist attack in modern history on the US was carried out by....you guessed it, middle eastern looking people.
 
surely tho if your case isn't locked that clearly an invit to both them to search it and other people put put "suspect" stuff in it?

therefore they search it?
 
You have tightly wrapped electronic equipment in your luggage, and wonder why an organisation that are on the lookout for tightly wrapped electronic equipment in luggage search through your luggage? :p
 
Nothing to do with what you look like, the bags are searched by people out back. Whether or not you get your bag searched, I have no idea how they decide on it though but unlikely you are specifically picked out each time.

My wife seems to get her's searched everytime now in the USA (and broke one lock before we got TSA ones) and she's American. She's also petite, a very unlikely suspect for anything but nearly always seems to get stopped before boarding the plane and has her hand luggage searched.
 
I've mentioned this before but my wife who is 52 ALWAYS gets taken to the side and has her suitcase checked.
I've jokingly asked the staff why they pick on her but obviously they won't show me the page from their 'What makes a suspect' book.
She doesn't look like Mad Dog Deon either because she doesn't have the tattoo on her forehead.

Maybe you should get your own back and play a joke on them. Put some anti American propaganda and Obama death threats into your luggage and watch the ensuing hilarity.

I believe those are a waste of time and a bit of a premium for nothing.
My sister had them on her case and they were still cut off when they did a search.

You are much more likely to be searched if travelling on your own.
Plus if you've got anything suspect on the scan of your bag, again it's more likely they will open it.
 
Perhaps its the amount of sole visits each year, that they find alarming.

I.e. you could be smuggling.

Just be glad they're not giving you the full search every time!

Unfortunately I do have the silly last name, Middle-Eastern features and the occasional beard (when I'm feeling extra "**** you infidels" that day of course). It's a lot more embarrassing and tiresome when it's your person, as well as your bags, being looked over like the potential anti-Christ (and it takes twice as long too!). Alas, it's expected in this day and age, and its no skin off anyone's nose as long as nothing gets stolen.

I completely sympathize with your personal stuff being damaged, that's not on and hopefully you can sort that out. However, just take the good advice here for next time and suck it up!
