***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

Google removed the feature of contact sync with facebook on the core android OS during Gingerbread. I tend to use an app called syncmypix to sync pictures of people with facebook names. Can also manually do then once the app is run.

A few more observations:

1. It looks like the launch is such a mess. I would give it till Jan till the mess is fixed before recommending the phone to people.

2. By the time the fault is fixed, hopefully the phone will be cheaper and more widely available ( eg free on a £30/m 18 month contract with decent data allowance) and available on network shops?

3. For most of us here, the new features of ICS will have to be balanced by the lack of proprietary items such as codec support. The Galaxy S and Galaxy s2 have excellent video playback options natively, both the Nexus s and Galaxy Nexus does not.

BE CAREFUL, SOME FANBOYS WILL START SLAGGING YOU OFF :(

It should play all the codecs just fine - it has a good media processor - the max you have to do is DL a media player off the market - some have said the stock player works just fine.

nice - a button layout to suit anyone in theory

hmmm.... so far I am only encountering the sound muting problem when I send and recieve text messages on 2G, when I make calls its absolutely fine.

Whether it be a hardware or software issue I hope they confirm it soon just so we know where it all stands. If I have to send it back I've still got my old iPhone so wouldn't be the end of the world for me :) but for those with only this phone, it will be a right bugger!

I'm now back on my SII but I haven't returned the Nexus. I've actually missed Touchwiz! I simply don't believe it but I have. It just feels more refined than stock Android but there is a price to pay, the bundled Samsung apps. If I'm granted a refund I think my upgrade path will lead me to an SIII now.

Where did it come from ?

Odd i really hate touchwiz, does my nut in id much rather have vanilla android tbh.

It's trying too hard to look like an iphone in that respect.

Is the consensus to not take the phone if you have not got it? Saturday is when my contract offer expires

In my opinion, yes. Just wait a little while and see what happens.

I hated TW also I soon had launcher pro on mine to get rid of it.

I can't make my mind up what to do now, is it 7 days with P4U online orders as long as you don't use the sim card.

Got mine yesterday and I LOVE IT, Apple should be worried! Originally ordered it online from Three but for some reason that they won't tell me, the order failed so ended up getting it in store. It's so fast - Big step up from my San Fran! The only issue I found is that it seems to be quite slippy in my hand and I am paranoid about dropping things so I bought a gel case for the rear and a flip case thing, will use one or the other depending on how I am feeling :P

I think that this is the best phone ever made , no competion. Im raving to everyone about how unbelievable the screen quality and featherlight weight is, and how this is the coming of the next Jesusphone.

At the same time, I am telling them not to buy it yet because it has too many bugs and is too expensive to be worth these flaws.

The Galaxy S II is actually quite a lot lighter. Maybe that would blow your mind! :p

Argh, i'm itching to get one of these  But it would be really dumb with a month to run on my O2 contract. Someone tell me i'm dumb for considering buying one PAYG from three and taking out a £10pm sim only three deal whilst this hardware bug is hanging over it
