***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

To be honest, whilst these sites claim to have heard it from Google, I don't trust anything until I hear an official statement from Google themselves.

The launch of this phone was a total mess, with lots of conjecture and downright misleading information being thrown around, so we shall see.

^

we don't know its a hardware fault. google have not said that have they?

"We are aware of the volume issue and have developed a fix. We will update devices as soon as possible."
Evidence shown up-to now leads it to being one. The description that Myshra gave is pretty bullet proof.
Google haven't said it is software. They've said they are aware of the issue and have developed a fix.
They wont directly say 'its a hardware fault'. Nor the other way and say its a software fault.

Either way, if this fix fixes it, bob on! :)

Someone who would find direct access to system folders and their contents in order to mod etc useful.

I've figured out that if you FTP onto your phone (Swift FTP client, and Filezilla on the PC) you gain access to all system folders.

Friendcaster is a way around but again, the contact pictures look awful despite checking the high resolution option.

Syncmypix will allow you to save a higher quality image to your contacts. it's not perfect but definitely an improvement.

When im in contaxt click on accounts I have:

Gmail.
Hotmail.
Whatsapp

I click on add account and select facebook click on add and it just goes back to the accounts & sync screen?

Furthermore, can you sync freinds in contacts like you did on desire with fb or google+ so their birthdays status updates come through etc?

Edit

When i look under contacts and click on them i don't have the add connection button like shown on the below screen shot

Adding your Facebook account through Accounts & Sync doesn't work. This has been documented throughout this thread. Please use Friendcaster instead.

I don't have the 'add connection' option either. I did have, but I don't. Saying that, all my contacts are synchronised already, using contact > menu > edit > menu > join. Saying that I'd be quite interested to know why there's no 'add connection' option as well now?

UPDATE - What I've now noticed is when you go to People > menu > Contacts to display > I can only see my Gmail account and not my Google+ account that I saw previously. I'm not sure if the two are related, but I'm definitely missing my Google+ account from here and from my People app..... Any ideas?

I don't lose at all, no-one seems fully satisfied withtheir Nexus, much batter to wait until early next year when the new gen of ICS phones are released with better features than this one imo.

Being really stupid but where is the contact > menu > edit > menu > join.

If they can sort the volume issue out, I will be totally happy with the phone. I think it's excellent.

yeah same, the speed of the msg apps is greatly improved, just mass text the football team and with the new keyboard im loving it. really enjoying ice cream sarnie, very slick, battery holds well over night and when the phone is idle.

No I wont, and ive never sat on the fence. I just know when to buy and when not to buy. This is one of those times not to buy because the phone simply isn't up to scratch hardware-wise for a "bleeding-edge priced" phone imo.

My Google+ account wasn't synchronised correctly. I think this is is why I was missing the 'Add Connections' field. I only see the 'Add Connections' field when a contact is not a Google+ contact.

Well, I've decided to put my order back in against my better judgement. :p

If it has to be replaced in future (now looking unlikely), fair enough, but I can't be bothered to wait.

I think the design, ICS/updates and screen alone are well worth it over any of the other Android offerings. Also, it will probably be another 5/6 months until we get something that is directly better than it.
