Howdy peeps,

Recently bought a 3gb 580GTX from OcUK and have been noticing it hitting the highs of 84C when playing rather demanding games. I bought 3x140mm case fans to try and remedy this problem yet they haven't made the difference I have hoped for, although I haven't tried different "push/pull" configs yet, which is where I need help with!

Case is the coolermaster CM690 II advanced, so has tonnes of places for fans.

Fan config is at the moment the following:

2x 140mm fans on the top blowing OUT of the case
2x 140mm fans on the side (left) blowing OUT of the case
1x120mm fan on the H60 cpu cooler also blowing out of the case
1x 140mm fan on the front blowing INTO the case
140mm fan on the PSU blowing INTO the case (from the bottom)

So currently have 5 fans extracting air, yet 2 putting air into the case.

Contemplating having the 2 new 140mm fans (akasa quiet) to intake instead, blowing cool air onto the gcard and CPU and see if the 3 other fans can extract the warm air well enough.

Is this a good idea or will I be just wasting my time and need to look at 3rd party cooling options for the 580GTX instead, which I don't really wanna do due to warranty issues with removing heatsinks...

Card is a palit 3gb 580GTX for reference.

firstly i dont think 84 for a 'reference'? card is all that high.

- when you say 140mm fan on the PSU blowing INTO the case (from the bottom) you mean you have the psu facing down and the psu fan itself is pulling air in? (this shouldnt affect temps as it gets exhausted by the psu in the back)

- on the left (side panel) swap a fan to pull air in and hit the gpu itself)

I have the same case and I've got my side fans blowing IN, this means the fans are blowing directly onto the CPU and graphics card which I think is better than blowing out

Well I've taken my own advice and turned both the side fans to suck air into the case and its dropped down nicely whilst idle to 39C, which is more acceptable than before. Gonna try a game now and see what I get upto.

Is the Palit card reference pcb layout? If so you could probably shave 20 degrees off with an aftermarket cooler. Some warranties such as EVGA allow you to use aftermarket coolers, just when you RMA it has to be reverted back to stock so have a look before deciding.

Im not actually sure if I'm honest.

Had a quick look, and it doesn't look reference

But has mounting holes which would allow for the Acclero Xtreme Plus for example. Though you might have to be creative should it not fit.
