Hi

I was recommended here for advice and purchase of all parts needed for a high end gaming PC .

The PC will be for my brother and used for general internet activities (email , facebook , youtube vids etc) but most importantly for playing today's/tomorrows games on high/ultra settings.

Looking at having the PC able to play games at high setting for at least 2 years but still able to hold its own (medium setting) for another 3 .

The budget can be no more than £820 (delivery may/may not be included , i need to see what can get before telling him its £X amount for postage etc) . As this is a build from scratch everything is needed except keyboard/mouse/mat , monitor (although a recommendation for a 24" for myself for when i build my own mid/high end pc) DVD drive , possibly not a hard drive but no harm in a 300GB one included.

Ive done a little research (but nothing major , if your not sure what things mean always best to ask people that know) and come up with these components that i think will do the job , but im no expert so some things may/may not be compatible :

After reading a few post here over last few days i realize links to other sellers is a no no :)

Case
Suza Advance GAMMA 8808GM - Mid tower - USB/Audio

PSU
???

MOBO
Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z68XP-UD3P

PRO
Intel Sandybridge i5-2500K Unlocked Core i5 Quad-Core Processor (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache, Socket 1155) - Now he does want an i7 but ive read few things saying an i7 you wouldnt see that much of 'gaming' performance boost with those , no video editing will done you see so i guess it wouldnt be worth getting an i7 ?

Also we wont be overclocking anything , i presume OC UK could do this before sending out ?

GFX
Asus nVIDIA 3D GeForce GTX 560 TI DirectCu II TOP Graphics Card (1GB) X2 - Would 2 of these be overkill or they be ok ?

RAM
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Two Module Kit

CPU COOLER
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 CPU Cooler

All the above are from different sellers on a large internet site , so delivery wasn't included in basket price which came to £750.03.

I realise some bits are missing , cables , case fans etc but i am a novice just trying to get best i can for price ive been given so any help would be much appreciated . I presume (i havent checked) that all above products (or ones that will do same job) are stocked/sold by OC UK (which came highly recommended btw) so if i bought all parts needed do you do a putting together/fitting service and how much is that , so fitting service/delivery would be coming out of the £820.

Thanks for reading and i hope to be buying from here pretty soon :)

Psu? Are you planning on powering with a master on a wheel? ;)
better case + gelid tranquilo cooler over the ac7p. cables fans etc should come with it.

Stick with the i5, they are highly recommended for gaming and provide an easy overclock, if you have enough money I would try to get a good 2gb graphics card but people on here will know more than me, I have almost the same system but I have a ati 6950 2gb

I did forget to put one on but as im a novice im not sure what wattage would be best/needed , 4,5,800W ? Which would be a good one etc

Would an ATI 6950 do the same job as 2 GeForce GTX 560 do you think ?

I forgot to mention neither i or my brother would do any overclocking , but if that could be done before shipping great , i dont know how that would be done as he doesnt need an OS ?

Will edit these in 1st post

See my sig. That cost £900 with an i7 2600K.

You could save money by going with the i5 2500K and if you already have a hard drive, save money again.

If not, then I'd seriously consider spending the extra to get a more powerful system.

I have the Asus Motherboard, you should go with the Gigabyte motherboard which is cheaper. Go with Kingston RAM rather than Vengeance as its cheaper.

In theory, go with the similar setup to mine but just;

Thats mine; http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s77/jb9191/specoverclockers.png?t=1321971187

I recommend for you;

Intel i7 2600K 3.4GHz (Sandybridge)
Gigabyte Z68 Motherboard | Asus GeForce GTX570 DirectCU II
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB | Samsung DVD/RW±
Kingston 8GB DDR3 RAM | Corsair A50 H-P CPU Cooler
Antec TruePower New Modular '80 Plus Bronze' PSU
BitFenix Merc Alpha Gaming Case

I've put the hard drive in if needed. With the saving on the CPU, RAM and Case you should get closer to your budget. If you don't need the hard drive then thats a bigger saving and most likely will come under your budget of £820.

Ive looked on here and added some things to basket , but is it compatible abd fit for the job ? I would prefer to get him a nVidia GTX 570/80 but the price is to high , are they much better than the one in the basket ?

Thanks

For the price of the mechanical drives these days. If you could live with the storage space. An SSD might be a better option. Then if you need the storage later on. Buy a mechanical drive when the prices become sensible again.

A 1TB will hopefully be 40 quid again. Sometime anyway.

He has a 600GB external so basically could get away with 64GB internal for OS and buy more when needed.

The price of 60GB SSD is more than the Samsung in basket :(

Thanks

the specs are a bit inconsistant and you've chosen some more expensive then neccessary.

if you don't plan on xfire then there is no need for a 850w(even then a 750w will be enough), if you do plan on xfire you'll want a better motherboard due to the 2nd pci-e x16 is in reality only x4 which will effect the performance(stulid and others more in the know have said that that motherboard and others with the same pci-e config are only suitable for single cards).

no future sli

i2500k oem £156
gigabyte z68ap-d3 £85 or you could stick to the asus you've picked

if you compramise on the case you can fit in the 570, but if you want the case you've chosen drop the 570 for the 6950, the his 6950 icq x plus is £5 more than the sapphire dual fan and comes with 3 games which you can sell(codes not discs) to get back the money).

overclocking is pretty easy, just need to change a couple of options and you're set. there's even software with the motherboards that involves a few clicks and job done. of course you can sit for hours tweking this/that/other but not needed unless you're aiming for 5ghz+

WTF, hadn't looked recently. That's insane. Big problem for me as I have 20K budgeted next month to buy a bunch of Hard Disks to stick in the Array at work. That might not happen given the 2TB HD I bought a couple of months ago has tripled in price.

I feel very close to a conclusion now , case im not sure about tho and ive never heard of the HIS make/brand before ?

There's a little left in budget so something could see an improvement but you guys know more than me :) Is every thing compatible , will it all fit in case , eventually he will by a 2nd GFX card (probs the same 1) , will that fit on mobo and in case ?

I need to finalize this soon as a few products offer ends this week , i presume on friday :s

was I talking to myself before??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

as I said IF YOU WANT XFIRE/SLI YOUR CHOSEN MOTHERBOARD IS NOT THE ONE TO GET, IF YOU DON'T WANT SLI/XFIRE THEN 850W PSU IS NOT THE ONE TO GET.

you want the gelid tranquilo rather than the gx7 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-001-GD&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395

if you want a £40 cooler go for http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-005-AN&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395

in that case you'll be able to go with the ripjawx http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-060-GS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517 still 8gb but 320cheaper than what you had in your first spec

the this week only end on wednesday.

if you order now you can get double the capacity hard disk for £10 cheaper, only 3 left so be quick.

if you must insist on spending £70+ on a case go for a better case such as
