Nokia not out of the doo doo yet

Now, it's seems that opinions are firmly divided. The more I read people either love the Lumia's or Hate them, no real in between. The people saying don't worry, it's the first effort give them time, do you think they can afford to wait another 6 months in a competitive world seeing as several people have already complained how far behind the platform is with app numbers etc.? I have argued I feel it's too little too late, are you still saying it make a great comeback? It's the 4th largest smartphone platform, being beaten by Samsungs own Bada OS at the moment, which is restricted to 4 phones from one supplier, don't you think it should be doing better?

Please stop posting.

Why? I'm asking genuine questions? You don't have to read them? Or put me on the ignore list...
Please stop being immature!

Sold more devices in its first year than Android did.

Apps growing at a steady rate - coming up to 50,000 i believe.

It's still very early days and no i dont think it should be doing better. Rome wasn't built in a day and iOS and Android didn't take market share overnight.

Nokia are making money from Apple from licensing - Microsoft are making money from every major Android manufacturer for each sale. They can keep this up for a long long time. Nokia have released 1 device so far and it's been out 2 weeks.

If the picture is similar next xmas then i might agree but it is way too early to draw conclusions from the data at hand.

WP has a USP over Android that there is huge potential for integration with future devices - xbox, W8 etc...

I see this as a long term strategy which both MS and Nokia can afford to pursue for quite some time.

What WP7 will lack in apps for a while, it will make up for in quality. If Microsoft want an app, they will pay the developer whatever is required to get them on board. I suspect they have a dedicated team of people prioritising what apps they want, and what ones will be popular, and ensuring they are developed as fast as possible.

Bada OS has been out for a long time and is available on a lot of cheap phones, of course it's going to have a larger share at the moment, there are LOADS of people with Samsung Wave devices and they are being sold in a lot more countries as well.

It doesn't need to make a comeback, it hasn't even got started yet. This is just the beginning. There was a lot of love/hate with the Metro UI that Windows are using (and that is coming with Windows 8 as well...), but those people are slowly starting to like it. Just like with touch screen phones, very few people liked them to start with.

With Windows 8 using the same system, and the 'real' Windows 8 tablets coming out quite soon, the only way is up. I think you're forgetting just how huge Microsoft are.

As for the Lumia, I haven't found a single person that has said they don't like it so far, the worst comment as expected was yours, that it's an "alright phone" and that's not even bad.

It seems bizarre that you're so keen on having these little discussions about Nokia, nobody agrees with you, you simply don't understand... well, anything. :(

Guys and Gals, if I decide to spend my hard earned on a platform I want to make an informed decision. I really value your opinions, thus the questions, there are no WP7 phones being sold in my area, no-one I know has one, and no-one seems interested, so ask people who either have one, have used one or are interested in buying one.
It's not that I don't understand, I just don't see it's future or potential yet, and without getting any feedback from people how can I judge that?
Reviews have been mixed to say the least, I'd like a nice camera for starters, and it seems it's behind the other major contenders in that area. Apps is a concern, with the Android devices I already own much better served in that area. yes microsoft is huge, but even they don't appear (in my area at least) to be getting anywhere with WP7 at all, thus asking people on here from areas where you can sample devices your opinions.
When I said opinions are divided, even in this thread you have people saying they don't like Nokia, there aren't enough apps etc. it's part and parcel of a forum...
I need a phone to last me about 2 years, and of course I'd hate to go down the wrong route, and the main reason is the complete lack of availability near me and chance to see one and properly play/test with one. My limited chance was scuppered because the Lumia on display kept turning off after about 5 mins...

I think you should just get an iPhone or something for now and not worry about this because you're never going to be happy with it :p

Yay for choice!

Agreed! :p

Saying that I may I have been temped to go with a iP4s 64GB (White)

Why does OP hate Nokia so much?

He even refers to Nokia-Siemens, that has nothing to do with handsets whatsoever :/

Why? It's going to cost quite a bit more (not that it isn't worth it, it is).

What about the Nexus?

As I said I was just thinking...

I think the screen is too big and the phone is too plastic again it doesn't do a good job of saying its a premium handset for the money IMO.

I really wanted one of these phones, but could not justify spending an extra £5-10 month more than the galaxy s2 was costing me.
Bring it inline with the galaxy and this will fly of the shelves!

I haven't got mine yet but apparently it feels very nice and has a bit more weight to it so doesn't feel as cheap as the Galaxy S II in that regard (flame proof vest: on) :p

Actually, nobody has brought the 'plastic fantastic' argument against it yet!
