Going Clubbing? - Take your own booze...

In a way yes, but how many people out there spend even more on Home entertainment setups, I'm sure they're more than a few on this board alone,

It wouldn't and won't work, Nightclubbing per se don't really have that ambience, it's just basically loud thumping music, bucket loads of moronic drunk people that inevitably want to smack you at some point, so the same thing can easily be recreated at home, with 0% hassle, basically no extra cost at all,

You're going to the wrong clubs ;)

Saying that, I don't see why they don't just decide to charge reasonable prices for drinks?

Surely making less profit off drinks is better than none at all, and they still retain a semblance of control over people's drinking.

Nightclubs wont die aslong as they stop taking the **** when it comes to the prices of things.

Exactly. If business is flagging because buying from supermarkets and drinking at home is so cheap, what sort of logical step is it to allow people to bring those drinks into the club? How will you make *any* money if no-one buys drinks? Lower drinks prices in the club to a reasonable level and business will increase.

Lets face it, the only thing that people are going to be drinking is spirits. Nobody could be ****ed to bring in a ton of cans with them. Ergo, everyone will be smashed and carrying around glass bottles. Win!

How will you keep your cans cool in a hot and sweaty club?

Cool bag / box with ice packs.

Not unusual. I know the owner of one company and he was the first in the area and made a fortune in his first 2 years. Couple of other companies have sprung up aswell.

Pretty much any taxi will pick booze up and deliver it to you for the price of the taxi in our area now.

Worst idea ever. How does he expect to make enough on just entry fees?
The amount people could drink will increase massively and we all know where that leads...

They should be made to decant the contents of glass bottles into plastic and allow cans of stuff in only. This is how things work at the major festivals across the UK.

There is a restaurant in Swansea that does this, and it works great.

Not sure I'd trust the same principal to work in a club of chavs and roiders looking for a fight.

I give it a week before it closed down in a shower of vomit, broken glass, blood and drunken slags shouting "''it 'im darrell".

It's quite common in restaurants - and it can work well in that situation (theoretically you're more likely to spend extravagantly on the food and tip better if you're feeling a bit merry :p) I believe it also removes the requirement for the restaurant to be licensed. In a club which would already have a licence, and where you've already paid your entry, and there's not really anything else for you to pay for (other than the dodgy bathroom hobos) I don't see any benefit.

I see it as you're paying for a lady for the night and a good sound system.

The majority of nightclubs have to charge these prices for drinks to keep in business,i know how much it costs to run a club and it aint cheap fella.
