Its Thursday but ive read in the Mirror that tonight at 9pm Toys R Us in the UK will be opening its doors with a multitude of discounts in honour of our fairer cousins across the pond.

Now, is this true? I cant find the information anywhere else at all... my local shop is only a couple mins away, but I dont fancy sitting alone in a dark carpark waiting for a store to open... that isnt :D

Unless they officially start doing it in this country, Black Friday is an American day and nothing to do with the UK. I REALLY wouldn't be surprised if retailers in the UK attempted to make it another 'sales' day though, as times are getting desperate.

you say that as ive just received a 'black friday sale' email from ocuk :p

Sick of all this black Friday rubbish, its an American tradition slowly being brought to the UK by massive American corporations, going mad for stuff you dont need, just what the economy needs and max out the CCs.

Seeing the youtube videos of grown adults fighting for the last toy or electronic device on a shelf is sickening.

Seeing the majority of your posts sickens me because of how poor they are.

I see it as a healthy incentive to get the loss leaders out the door and enable people to get their major Xmas purchases in early at a cheaper cost compared to closer to Xmas.

So are we saying the Mirror has got its wires crossed and tapped the American phone system rather than UK to get this story then?

Well the mirror article says its on games and must have toys, I bet its not, you think they will be selling COD MW2 for £20?

Considering they only put out certain deals and you have a very little chance of getting they deal, they are just trying to get as many people into the store or on a website.

I would say 95% of the stuff on sale is not what people want or are acutal christmas presents.

We shall stand and bang!

I bet you are the sort of person that goes to the boxing day sales to pick up a bargain.

I concur.

Next thing you know, we will be adopting our very own thanksgiving day, because good old Bernard wants to shift more Turkeys !

Im guessing your the type of person that doesnt like to take full advantage of offers/discounts...

And you dont have to fight for toys you have the internet!

Id tend to agree with cheets here... Most sale stuff is just stuff they couldn't shift at full price the rest of the year... The shops just hope you'll forget you walked past it a dozen times the previous year and didn't like it.

There are very few actual loss leaders and of those few are that good. Most shops aren't like Harrods with their £5000 tvs for £100...

Oh so it's not to do with black culture day, there's a surprise...

Can we have a White Friday?, bet that wouldn't happen....
