So, I ordered a 5 series GT for my wife on Monday. We agreed a price and I got them to throw in a service I just had done on my 335, a tank of petrol and tinting of the windows after delivery.

The dealer has now called me back saying that he cannot give me the above but only offer £100 off my service cost. This is despite the fact he has agreed the above deal and taken a 1500 deposit. This is the second new car we have bought from BMW Sheffield so I am a little unhappy about this.

So where do I stand? I told him I would cancel the order but he thinks that my not be possible.

NB:
I know its an ugly car buy my wife likes it and she had a bit of bad news on monday so I wanted to cheer her up.

Speak to the boss, that's unfair - basically just say you wouldn't have done the deal if you couldn't get those terms.

Sounds highly unprofessional of them to call you up and say that!

I reckon the salesman has agreed to it without getting clearance first!

Yep its the boss that called me to say they could not do it, he was on around on the day they made the deal.

But the sales man did speak to the numbers guy before he agreed to the deal.

Well, you are free to cancel if they can't meet their commitments. The sale is based on the conditions. The idea that "you might not be able to" is ludicrous and the salesman knows it.

Yeah - if you agree on a deal and pay a deposit on the basis that the deal will be honoured, then they change the deal... you are fully entitled to a refund.

The trouble here is that walking away might well be cutting your nose off to spite your face given you know how cheap these particular offers are and how unrepeatable they are.

This, its a 48k sale for the dealer but I am only paying 400 quid per month + vat

All the more reason you continue with the deal which was agreed. There's no way a dealership would accept you turning round after agreeing a p/x and saying "Actually, I've been silly here, I'd like another £500 please". A deal has been agreed, and deposit paid. You cannot change the deal.

I agree with you 100% on this but it looks as if I am just going to have take it in the chin, I may take them to the small claims court after I pick up the car.

The idiot had the cheek to offer 500 quid of the next new car I order from them lol :D

You could get an M3 for that :p

New solution... Get M3 & give 335 to wifey :D

lol its the other way around, wifey is giving me her old 335i and she is getting the 530 GT. My 911 dream will never come true at this rate :D

Why? They've breached their side of the contract, if you're happy with the new "deal", go ahead with it, if you're not, get your deposit back, and if they don't give it to you take them to small claims now.

Otherwise you could be cheeky and say "that's alright, because i've decided I can't really give you the £400/month but how about £300/month instead?" :p

What an insult. What particular aspect of the deal are they not happy about?
