Hi there, A lad from work wants me to put a new system together as a christmas present to his son. He wants a pc purely for games. I have a 2600k and believe on games atleast the 2500k is just as good? So I kind of told him to go down that route. however these new AMD chips seem like very good value for money and was wondering if anyone has tried these out yet? i can get the 8 core version for £159 with 16mb cache. sounds like a steel or are they rubbish :-) thanks for your time

As simple as Joksters reply is it saids it all - 2500K is the all you need for the ultimate/multipurpose gaming chip, no need to consider any other format (if you can afford it).

Also, only look at 1600MHz memory (Corsair XMS, Kinsgston, G.Skill) which ever quality brand is cheapest it's all you need as it's the sweetspot for SB setup (8Gb max).
