I originally posted this in the spec me a torch thread, however it seems like it was just looked over by everyone, so I'm posting it here instead

Can someone recommend me a torch?
i want it to be
- very bright (but not blind everyone within 5 miles bright)
- pocket size (about 20cm length, 4cm diameter at widest point)
- long battery life
- will run using rechargeable (i have AAA, AA and 18650 rechargeables currently, but will get others if they give a better option)
- fairly weighty
- have fairly easy to obtain replacement parts (this means available on sites like ebay and amazon etc or major retail chains)
- be able to take some abuse
my budget is nothing stupid, if the torch that will suit my needs cost £5, £20, £50 or even £100.

the torch will be for walking in poorly lit areas when its dark, currently I use my galaxy s2, but i want something
more suitable ie a torch.

if possible and allowed, please link to seller's website

You should have just asked again in the torch thread if it was missed. They're a very helpful bunch but the thread moves quite fast and things get missed.

Pretty much every torch mentioned in the torch thread would suit your needs and anything will be better than using a phone as a torch :p. Aod seemed to like the Tesco Cree AA torch as a cheap general purpose torch.

If you want something a bit better quality, then you can't go wrong with a Fenix LD20. Similar to the Tesco torch but much better quality. These can be had for around £35 from ebay, but would have to wait for HongKong postage, which can be around 1-2 weeks.

hth.

I bought this earlier in the week, and was so impressed I went back for a couple more:

Same thing, but cheaper

Although DX comes with a month long wait for anything :(

OP, look on the China sites for a XM-L torch, 18650 batteries, one that takes two would be great.
That's it.
Pay twice as much for a brand or get two torches for the same price, either is OK

The budgetlightforum.com has some great deals but you might as well buy anything from the spec thread, there are very few duff torches out there.
