Hi all, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these cars? Next year I'm going to go and blow my money on one of these, or something similar and was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Was thinking of one like this, white with the sunroof, 08 reg

I have one. I like it. Am after something different though (although that is just down to me, not the car).

Everyone else will come along and tell you how crap it is though.

What do you want to know?

what are the servicing prices are like? and have you had any major problems?

Last question, what sort of mpg do you get out of it on longer runs? :D

Servicing prices are just like any other Fiat really, pretty cheap. The only two issues I had was that my passenger window became intermittent and wouldn't go down, also the boot light stopped working. Had both of those done under third year warranty. Apart from that it has been faultless.

If you go to The Grande Punto section on the Fiat Forum there is a common faults section/thread that you can look at. That'll be your best bet.

MPG wise, if I'm driving spiritedly the I'll be high 20's. Normal town driving gives me ~35mpg. Motorways gives me 40-43mpg.

Thanks, will give the fiat forum a look.

Personally I like Punto Grandes.

Just make sure you get the 'sporting' suspension version. The bogo standard version is a bit 'floaty' at speed. The lowered, stiffer suspension makes the car feel more hunkered down on the road, whilst still providing a comfortable ride.

Yea im only looking at the sporting t-jet. Not really sure I want the diesel as a personal car (when I drive them for a job).

I think the S2 versions look pretty good, although the punto evo has kinda killed it. I've heard good things about the t-jet aswell.

My insurance price is irrelevant really.

I'm probably not the same age as you, have the same job, live in the same place, have the same amount of no claims etc.

I personally don't like the Evo. They went too far with the styling on the bumpers.

The Sporting suspension is definitely firmer than the standard cars, but it still isn't great. A popular modification on these cars is fitting Eibach Sportline springs to them. Apparently it transforms the car. I'm reluctant to do this however because the under tray already scrapes over the square bumps in the road and my work car park is a multi story with steep-ish ramps.
