The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Next stage is to buy up all the petty soul gems I can find, fill em with rats and spam waterbreathing rings for fun and profit and enchanting skill. My intention is to get at least 4 resist magicka enchants at 25% and 4 fortify destruction 25% on my gear for free death bolts and immunity to magic. That should do the trick :)

Honestly, try Iron Daggers (or anything) and Banishing. Iron Dagger with a 13 second 2 charge banish spell is worth about 1608 (so sells for about 600)... I'm spending a lot of time waiting 48 hours round and round at Tonila to sell them all xD

Money's not really an issue. In fact, I've got about 40k and my biggest problem right now is getting rid of the stuff I have. Vendors just don't have enough money. I'm only picking up glass stuff (the highest level stuff that's dropping right now) or particularly high value magic stuff and still carting around a few pieces until I get to vendors than can buy em, and making waterbreathing rings does better by me because I can level up my smithing (useless apart from level progression), enchanting and alteration (transmuting iron to silver and silver to gold) at the same time. I stick banish on the odd glass weapon I find, but one of those clears out vendors for the most part.

Edit: Where's Tonila? I don't recognise that name... town or vendor?

I was runnin skyrim happily at 50 fps with aax4 and afx8 all high settings for about 50 hours.

Now im getting 27-32 in towns and 28-40 outside since the steam patch.

Ive tried turning off aa and af and removing all mods but still no luck.

Im running a gtx 460 and phenom 955. Surely i should be maxing the game with ease?

Anybody have any suggestions?

SO many people have had frame rate problems with this game, even with the best rigs, especially in towns, I think it's just the game it's self, the engine, I think they need to patch the game to fix these issues.

Install the Rich Merchant addon, then you can make all vendors rich, you can install 2 versions, one gives them all 2k each and other gives them 10k each.

She's a fence in the thieves guild - think you only have to join to get access to her, but she has 4k.

Are there infinite dragons on the game? Just asking in case I've wasted a soul on a shout. Just tried the freeze shout out, only got 1 word, (freezes enemies) not sure if it always works. Anyone tried it with all the words and is it any good?

you can wait 48 hours, or save, close the game and load again, I find that renews the vendors.

First playthrough is always pure vanilla, I'll mod the game on the next run through when I go for a two-hander heavy armour berserker :)

Ah right, I knew that. I have noticed that some merchants now have over 1k gold, some up to 1300 - I've not done anything in the speechcraft perk tree and certainly haven't invested in any shops, do they get more money if you pump trade into them? Can you do it only by filling them to the brim with valuable loots or do you have to buy stuff from them too?

I've seen dragons spawn in some random places far from dragon shrines, more than once I've seen two dragons in the same place so I don't think they run out. Don't hold me to that, though. As for the freezing shout, it's currently my most used combat shout - great to combine with spells against those pesky ward-using mages, dual-cast a fireball to blow their ward away and freeze them before they recover. Then you can spam lightning spells to blast away their magicka while they stand up again :). I'd imagine that more words to the shout freeze opponents for longer, but I've only got the first myself.

My two handed blade is way quicker than a sword or an axe, I find them far too slow to be of much use despite the decent damage.

its not all about number of hits. On expert I can take a giant in 3 power attacks, without getting hit back thanks to shield bash which causes staggerm and the absorb stamina echnantment means i get more hits in. All about managing the opponents. Besides, its still like 2 swings a second with an axe, or about 2 power attacks over 3 seconds. I've since moved up to master but the same still applies.

Well, I made a new char - a sneaky thief type thing, which is what I loved most in oblivion. It sucks. I'm only level 3... but pretty much anything kills me. Even when I get the 2x sneak shot bonus... and I have no stamina, so couple of swings with a sword and I just have to run away.

Does it get better?

Yeah, it gets a lot easier. If you're stuck I recommend that when you land a sneak attack you leave the area until the enemy calms down. They will only ever search the area you took the shot from. I hope it gets fixed because you can kill anything like this.

One way of getting round poor merchants. Simply buy from them first to increase their gold pool. Obviously you only do that with merchants who sell goods you want like potions or raw materials. Technically speaking you don't end up with more gold, but at least you get rid of your junk faster that waiting for the restock :p

Hmm, I have a very odd problem.

Whenever I alt + tab into Steam, the friends section only shows 1 other person playing Skyrim.
