What's this actually for?

You posted in the SandyBridge-E Benchmarking thread but you appear to have an i7-990X Processor and RAM operating in triple channel mode would be best for that.

You need 4 modules on X79 for quad channel!

Otherwise why bother with X79 if you only wan to use 2 modules?

If you dont want more than 8 Gb, consider 4x2 Gb modules instead.

I was referring to your post here.

I must have missed the bit about X79.

You must be just about the only person on this forum who wants 8GB of RAM on a Sandy Bridge-E system.

Everyone else wants 16, 32 or even 64GB.

for gaming and benchmarks 16gb of ram isn't a waste? 16gb of ram i just see them "useless", 6gb was a pretty perfect size (1366),but it seems like having 8gb of ram instead of 16 sounds strange :|

i know!

but i didn't say that i want to use 2 modules of ram, i'm looking for 8gb DDR3 quad-channel, that's all

In all fairness the kit he originally linked to (now edited out) was 4x2GB.

But at $500, about £375 with VAT, it's mentally priced.

nice, and very good price ... but speed sucks :|

It was a slightly tongue in cheek suggestion but unless you're going to see major gains from 2400MHz DDR3 the Corsair kit at the equivalent of £375 for 8GB seems way too much to pay.

Just looking at what's available at OcUK the G.Skill 16GB 2133MHz kit for £150 offers far better value even if you don't think you need 16GB.

Hmmm, OCUK's memory list sees to be lacking atm, theres no superfast 2 Gb modules available.

I already have some though :)
