*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Do people not see the game being a bit repetitive? Soon as i hit lvl 6 i felt that i had seen every thing the game had to offer me.

Well from lvl 1 i was still doing the same thing at lvl 6....

Played many MMOs before? :D

If you can make 100s and 100s of hours of gameplay without any repitition I think you will be a very rich man :p

Performance isn't that great for me on an i5 @ 4.5 and a HD6970.

Seems to stutter at times, this is at 1080P and everything max.

As for the game.... well, it's a tough one. Perhaps I was expecting too much but it hasn't drawn me in like i'd hoped. Currently got a Consular to level 10.
Try turning the shadows down, I read a lot of people talking about it ingame and seemed to solve their problems.

My frame rate more than doubled just from turning down the ground clutter density/shadow quality etc. by only 20%.

Shadows are weird in this game, i was messing with them yesterday and that slider doesn't really seem to do much me other than turn them off.

I'm now at Lvl 8 on a Sith Inquistor. I'm liking the game but at this stage it's easy to forget it's an MMO, hopefully that will change after the starting zones and it will feel more like a world? Anyway unsure on this class though, I had hoped for it to be a bit more "mage like" but seems like a melee/caster mix which I'm not sure works as i wanted a bit more kiting :) again that may be different at later lvls ??

Not when you've not even left the starter world though - the game opens up a significant amount once you hit the capital planets - much more grouping up for one

SOrry but, do the graphics improve from 6-7 year old quality after level 10? Does the voice acting, which while nice to have, has terrible dialogue and story change? Does the awful shiny bright UI change, does the general generic and shiny feel of the world change after level 10?

The game isn't ONLY about what quests you are doing or what powers you are using.

You start off many other games, like Lotro ,with few powers and its a bit dull and that gets better later...... thats like almost every game.

The story in Lotro starts off strong, the quests make some sense, the graphics were awesome straight off(and still, on a fairly old game, MASSIVELY better than this tripe), animations, the general feel, the difficulty were all spot on with Lotro.

The simple "feel" of the game is like champions online, MMO dumbed down, made for kids, made uber easy, made childish and overly simple.

Every MMO has crap quests, you don't have to open with a terrible conversation and move right onto a quest chain.

Story might improve later, I somehow doubt it, very few MMO's I've ever played get harder at higher level's.

AS for not liking anything, anyone that only reads my negative posts and ignores the rest would think that. Skyrim is excellent, it has flaws and it too is far too easy(well you can choose far too easy with 5-6 very hard fights, or semi easy with 5-6 almost impossible fights, or keep changing the difficulty level). Batman is excellent, Lotro WAS excellent for 2 years before they nerfed almost every single fight in the game. Rage sucked....... because it sucked, Kotor 1 was epic, Kotor 2 was marginally less epic, Mass effect 1 is epic, 2 is meh, 3 I'm hoping will be epic, etc, etc, etc.

Inquisitor won't turn into a proper "mage like" character until you get your advanced class to be a Sorcerer, which is when your ranged attacks become more powerful, melee attacks get weaker, you get more range on your ranged stuff and you get new Sorcerer abilities. Also yeah once you get out of the starting areas the world opens up, you're quite boxed in for the first 10 levels or so.

Not bothered trying to convince you otherwise - I disagree with everything you said, but your entitled to your opinion mate it's fine.

I've tried LotRO and WoW and didnt get into to either - the voice acting and art style for me make me much more gripped to the game.

It's cool - if you don't like it

Grouping or not, for someone who's played a hell of a lot of mmo's it's all too familiar territory and that's very obvious from the start. That said, lightsabres are pretty funky ;)

I don't get that arguement though...

It's like moaning about a racing game because you race, or a FPS because your shooting things... ?

Apart from the obvious trolling, how are people enjoying the stress test?

Decided to skip on this test, don't want to play the game too much before release.

wab / Robbo - I don't think it's worth us trying anymore tbh... lol

lol was not bothering replying to them anymore anyway, kids play 5 levels and think they know the game, should know by now you cant tell kids anything, they always think they know better :D

The art direction was known 3 years ago, did you just watch the in game trailers with your eyes closed?

Does the voice acting, which while nice to have, has terrible dialogue and story change?

Please do enlighten us as to providing an example of another MMO which has full voice acting through the entire game and has better dialogue?

does the general generic and shiny feel of the world change after level 10?

Sorry your telling me that you don't like shiny environments and then go to tell me LOTRO looked awesome? Have you been to Bree, that couldn't be any more shiny with flowers if you tried.

Sorry your complaining about this or not? Can't tell.

Now your just trolling.

Apart from being severely disappointed with the Jedi Knight and Sith Warrior classes from a PvP perspective i've been enjoying it immensely. You can really tell a lot of work has gone into the game for once, most MMO's of recent years release feeling half assed, and I've encountered zero bugs of note, had one single game crash and no DC's.

One thing that bugs me is that the player character voices mostly see off on the Sith side, it doesn't sit right making ugly, evil looking toons and then they start speaking in this posh English accent. Bounty Hunter one is just right though :)
