Had a glitch that actually worked in my favour for once. Been using the jets a bit more, needless to say no flares at the start. Anyway, planted some mines and then when i died, i respawned into a jet and right at that spawn moment, someone was nice enough to drive over a few mines, it said who killed who and with what.
And it said i killed them with a new weapon apparently, the F-18 Hornet mine :)
Much needed points which got me my flares. Can finally stay in the air a bit longer. Progress :D
Now if only people on the ground would make the massive effort to press the spot enemy key and mark the jets out. I always do, spot points and for the guys in the sky. Can be hard to see the other jets at times

well just imagine how good bf4 will be.

I think bf3 is a new prototype

bf vientam was built on bf1942 and bf2 built on this also correct?

but bf3 with the frostbite engine is brand new? apart from based on bfbc2 somewhat?

That's for choppers though, I always seemed to disable a jet when I hit it once, might have been damaged though and I wouldn't know as I don't fly jets.

Is there seriously any point to the stinger? Everybody has flares and so the missile just gets lost on its way to target. It's the most pointless BF3 weapon. You may as well go with a Javelin of SMAW.

Ok someone please explain why I was kicked from Smogsy's server twice tonight?

The 1st time was out of the blue, battlelog stated I was kicked and I rejoined and all was well for the rest of the sessioon. The 2nd time was just now, I killed some of the other team with a tank, then killed a camping sniper then jumped off my tank and knifed nalle1000 behind some crates seconds before being kicked.

This is rather annoying especially since I was
A) Not breaking any conduct rules of the game/server.
B) Actually doing well for a change, either top spot or just behind Arctic Pedo Bear.

I don't think I will be playing on the server if it happens again for no reason.
 
Maybe it was a random kick to make room for another player/friend of Smogsy?

Twice is pushing the boundaries of "random" especially on the same night!

It would be more annoying if stats were not recorded if you get kicked but thankfully they are it would seem so at least that's a good thing.
 
looking for a platoon to join or create one. Ill play any class and all classes really. can fly choppers ok. team player. fed up playing it and typing not setup teamspeak yet but anyone who wants a game add me or message me.

The game needs teamwork and some days it ****es me off as im generally a good player but if there is no teamwork you simply get owned.

I've found a nice little server that just plays air maps, and the opposing team had a squad that repeatedly swatted choppers out of the air. They had a whole two guys with stingers: one locked and fired to get the chopper to flare, the other hit it and then the first guy reloaded and hit it again. Done like that a chopper goes down rapidly.
 
I dont bloody believe it. Flying in a jet on Operation Firestorm will cause the my game to crash. Just had my best game in a jet only to see the points go bye bye. This game is turning into a bad joke. 3rd time it has crashed mid game, all on Op Fire and in a jet.

Doesn't really work that way if the chopper has the gunner with flares and at least one of them using the stealth perk. Pilot can pop flares, then the gunner for the second missile, by the time the first guy locks on again with the stealth delay the pilot will have flares again or be a couple of seconds off having them, generally the distance also plays a factor, anything remotely significant and there will be flares ready to deploy again.
 
So does anyone else have the problem of not being able to play BF3 FULL stop after the **** patch? I tried to play the campaign and it says its initializing and then nothing, so tried multiplayer and it says its joining a server and then nothing!!! I have done a repair on BF3 and still nothing!!! What is going on????

Never been kicked or knowing of an OcUKer being kicked for any reason!
 
Had a few games on hardcore this evening. 2 friends and me were on a **** server so jumped onto something else, realised it was HC, just about to jump out when we got a couple of easy kills, thought, meh, we'll see where this goes..

Loved it! Bit more sneaky, teamwork seems to work far better as people are a little less gung ho, giving you better chance to cover and move, revive etc (I found anyway). Moved onto the AEK and was racking up kills in no time. Was having a stand off at Sienne Crossing with some guy on the other side of the river, (I was in a building at the end of a street looking down at the bridge). Kept killing him until he just got out a SMAW and decided rockets were the best course of action, which unfortunately on hardcore don't really need to hit anywhere near you to die. Still must have nailed his entire squad a few times though. 4x scope + fire selector makes the AEK one exceptionally well rounded weapon, just need the laser sight for better hip firing close up.

Obviously team killing can be a bit of a nightmare but I thought on the whole it was just as good if not better than normal mode. If you're maybe feeling a bit disillusioned with seeing lots of white crosses but not actually killing anything, you may want to give HC a try.
 
Can anyone tell me how to steer the jet..... I just fly off in a straight line until it says 'return to the combat zone' , do a few rolls and explode but never actually manage to turn.

Tried the standard WASD and mouse.....

I take that it was an admin ****** at me, rather then punkbuster kicking me for cheating :p

Don't know why I got kicked though, I was ontop of a building by a CP, using C4 to blow up stuff below me, got 2 tanks ;), guess the admin was in 1 of them :(

Hah. I still can't get close enough to anything in the heli to kill anything with it. As soon as I take off *BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP* I'm locked. I have flares, god knows where from, but as soon as I've deployed them to save me from one thing I'm getting hammered by another before they've reloaded. I'm a pretty handy pilot, can fly roads low and fast, pretty used to the dynamics (though it's a bit tougher than BC2 where I was downright awesome) but I just seem to have too much stuff looking to take me out. It's actually a bit boring flying around with that lock noise droning constantly, even if nothing is hitting me.

What should I be doing fellow OCUK chopper pilots? What should I be looking to unlock and equip asap? Do you fly high and far back, try and take out things from range? Or low and fast, pop up from behind things and take out tanks etc? How on earth do you deal with jets?
