Arma 2 Is it worth buying as a stocking filler ?

There are a lot of servers still up but there are usually only a few well populated public servers, in saying that you will have no trouble getting a game.

Download Arma 2 free version to test the game play the graphics are not HD as its the free version but at least you can get a feel for the game : http://www.arma2.com/free

Yeh and get desura and install the project reality mod for arma 2, its ace.

Just purchased it the whole package , umd and ard but for the extra £7.50 for all , gives more to do . 26GB though phew ! No wonder steam servers are to busy so it says . lol cheers all . Hope this will be an alternative to battlefield 3 , I do love the adrenalin rush of that but it is more a free for all and can be bit chaotic . But EA suck and ave lost £40 for thinking they own my PC cheers all .

Arma is not a battlefield alternative

Its a milsim and pretty much on its own. Just play BF3 is thats what you want, origin really isn't an issue if you take your tinfoil hat off.

Lol MrLol I enjoy battlefield , but that dosent mean this style of Sim shooter isnt appealing and seems from what I have reserched has things to offer that battlefield 3 dont . Its not something I have ever seen before in the shops new or second hand trade . Hopefully this game should keep us busy other xmas and give us a taste for Arma 3 next year .

Make sure though you install them together to make Arma2 Combined Operations as they use all the maps when you play online, check out the steam forum to help you do this.

Looking into that it seems they should work into each other automaticaly (hopefully) no need for registery edits . Im might leave the downloading of the other add ons while I give these two a go and hopefully embed , n iron out any issues .
