I get a lot of texture flickering too.
It looks like it's set to 2 in the settings.ini but i don't see any difference changing it to 16 tbh.
Forcing it in the control panel makes a big difference.
that wasnt the point
the point was people even had a go at the screenshot saying how bad it looked compared to SWTOR yet it was a screenshot i mislead everyone to believe was from kotor...
they bought it hook , line and sinker which just goes to show how similar swtor looks to a game released in 2003
and a trap that worked magnificently
i have however made a republic char and the starter planet looks much better than the first and second planets for the imperial side... even the uniforms look like they have had twice as much time spent on them , i guess all the devs play the light side chars...

ANy way to display framerate in the beta? Just wanna gauge what my 3450 is capable of before I order a new graphics card for the release!

i heard someone mention theres going to be an even higher res option for textures on release although it could be BS.
a lot of the rebel starter planets textures seem much better than the imperial starter planets though so maybe some of them are in already and others are still placeholder medium res textures
try turning the option on for blob character shadows , rendering 50+ shadows for all the people running around your area seems to be what gets my gfx card going

I'm bored of all this graphic talk... end of the day for me games are about stories for me. If they don't have a decent story line I get bored quickly. Would seem we have a lot of graphic whores. Which is fine everyone to their own tastes. But bioware said even when they first started developing swtor that they wanted to create a "movie type atmosphere" which was why they went for full voice acting on every single quest because they wanted players to feel like they were involved in the world not just grab quest, skip huge wall of text, do quest and hand in again skipping huge wall of text.
In my eyes they have done this. For an MMO I have never felt so pulled into the story lines they have put in. I enjoy that aspect and that is a game winner to me.

Yes, it does seem quite poorly optimised at the moment.
If I have shadows on full, my FPS gets crippled, if I drop it just a tiny bit, I get over 100 constantly.
It's only on some cards though and I'm sure that will be ironed out over the next few weeks.
There are a few issues with full screen mode as well though, the screenshots folder only displays black images if you have certain full screen options ticked and vsync doesn't always appear to work.
Yep I'm a grinding fiend, no issues staying up for 72 hours grinding and not doing a single quest, RIFT I hit max level in 4 days, did maybe 8 quests out of the starting area, Aion I hit 50 in 3 weeks or so doing 18 quests... However this I'm enjoying doing the quests if I'm honest, kind of makes me not want to grind as I enjoy being nasty to every NPC I can.
mmos arent about stories though and i fear its the only thing this game has to offer so endgame is going to be boring... the novelty of flashpoints will wear off quickly once your farming them aswell
im testing skipping every quest thats not a class quest at the moment and it definetly seems to be the way to go , leveling is going as fast if not faster compared to grinding out every quest i can find on my other champ
