*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Can't play the game, as i'm waiting for Bioware to get back to me on my secret question answer, as i can't remember it, so can someone post the Jedi Guardian Defence tree?

Would send you the details for my account as I'm not going to play on it for the rest of the beta however it is the account I will be using for release so don't want to be giving out details really...Plus you probs have characters on your account you want to go on.

Hope they get back to you soon though mate.

Will anybody be using voice comms for the first few days/weeks when the game releases? 'Cos I found people talking on Mumble made it very difficult to hear the voice overs and ruined the story for me abit. I suppose you could set up a "Only talk when necessary" policy however that would remove the point of using a decent amount wouldn't it?

mmos arent about stories though and i fear its the only thing this game has to offer so endgame is going to be boring... the novelty of flashpoints will wear off quickly once your farming them aswell

Well looks like bioware have done something that isnt deemed the "standard" then huh ? :p Well I like the stories so this will keep me going for a while. If the endgame is crap then so be it but at least then I would have experienced some good stories that will have kept me busy for a while. A which point I can just move on to another game :)

Hmm, I downloaded the 20 odd gig, booted the game up on Friday night and watched the intro. Holy cow was that good.

Navigated the mess that is creating a character and got into the game. I lasted about 4 minutes before I quit. I really couldn't be bothered any further.

I know graphics are not all there is to the game, but even the chat window being open in the top left, it was not really what I was expecting. I wanted a kotor sequel that, if it absolutely had to, had some mmo elements. Unfortunately this straight off the bat looked like a game from circa 2003 and not at all like the tight narrative driven games that proceeded it.

Disappointing doesn't come close. I know i barely gave the game a chance, but with so many good games out at the moment and time precious I just can't be bothered with a MMO when what I want is a story driven epic like the previous games :(

Nope, it was never going to be that. Ever.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but 4 minutes? 4 minutes can make or break a game for you. THough I suppose thats quite a while to some people :D:p:D

Well if you are investing in an MMO where you are hoping to spend months and months with a character I can see how the limited options available in SWTOR could instantly put people off.

The whole WoW vs ToR debate is getting tiresome for me.

I've just had my guild of 5 years dissolve because in the guild leaders eyes (and that of his followers), ToR is infinitely better than WoW and completely original in every way.

Pathetic. ToR is good, but it's only a Beta weekend at the moment. Since the Panda announcement and now the ToR Beta the WoW haters have come out in droves.

There's room for both games! There's no point trying to belittle either of them.
BF and CoD can exist at the same time, so why can't two MMOs?

I plan to play both.
Personally, I still think WoW is the stronger of the two, but it's still early days for ToR.

WoW is absolutely the stronger of the two; and so it should be - it will take quite a long time before SWTOR can really touch it properly, but initially it's quite strong.

I imagine your guild master is bored of WoW as it's a bit stale at the moment and it needs patch 4.3 to fire it up again until Pandaria.

Turn the option off in mumble, that mutes games, music and any sound that isn't mumble. If you still have problems, then turn your mumble incoming sound down aswell.

He isn't returning for 4.3 and hates the thought of Pandas.

I'm left looking for a new guild :p

So anyone else having a massive final play before the beta ends?

Just had a couple of hours sleep. Few tins of Relentless ready. Going to roll a trooper now and how it goes.

You've got 33 hours left till it ends :p

Gonna hit the sack then try and get an Inq or Consular assassin type into the teens tomorrow to see what it's like. I've gotten everything else up there including 2 of the sith warriors and two bounty hunters to try the different specs lol.

I've got the following so far:
Inquisitor to level 12
Bounty Hunter to level 11
Warrior to level 10
Imperial Agent to level 7

I want a class that will be good in pvp (not sure how the above fair for healing so this is based on damage).

IA: I gave up on this at level 7 - I just couldnt be bothered with all that cover nonsense.
Inquisitor: Was the first character I rolled and it felt fun to play - to a bit of getting used to for pvp as it's a mixture of lightning and melee.
BH - My favourite of the 4. Feels good to stand back and open up.
Warrior - I enjoyed this the most outside of pvp but trying to pvp with this class is frustrating - if your not stunned/incacipated your running after someone until your jump is off cooldown and your at the right range.

I think I will play a BH come launch as it was fun to level and also pvp with - think I will go the dps/healing route.

What are other peoples thoughts on the pvp?
