I just loaded up Skyrim and the game was lagging and stuttering like mad while turning the camera. So I thought I would enable fraps to check my FPS ....

40-45 constant FPS, and stutter with the camera turning? Surely that cant be right

I had a look in Nvidia control panel, and it turned out that my SLI focus had shifted to my second monitor whilst I was tinkering with the PC. So I set the SLI focus back to my primary monitor, loaded up Skyrin, again, and now had 58-60 FPS and 100% buttery smooth and lovely camera turning.

My eyes are now spoiled by gaming at 60 FPS :(

Probably the incorrect SLI setup was causing problems somewhere resulting in very irregular frame output even tho it was working out at 40-45fps.

Anyone who has done much FPS gaming online will soon notice even fairly small irregularities in frame times below 50-60fps.

Actually yes, this was it.

But to test again, I disabled SLI and and ran the game on a single GPU. My FPS was 33-40 and it was still noticeably stuttering while turning the camera but not as much.

40+ FPS would be ok, but probably still a little stuttery compared to 55-60.

So a minimum of 40 FPS and average of 50+ is still ok for my gaming :)

Severe lag at 4045 FPS? :p
