*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Need to contact Bioware via phone and i'm confused with the number.

1855 GO SWTOR (1855 467 9867)
+8000 BIOWARE (00800 0246 9273) from the United Kingdom, France or Germany.

Shouldn't it be 8000 0246 9273 like the American one which is 1855 467 9867?

Well I played easily 30-40hours this weekend.

And my views:

Good:
<3 lightsaber..
Combat is fluent, quick and fast. Works well.
Questing - some are awsome.
Class quests - the lore/story is really strong which is what the game needed.
NPC Dialogue choices - Depending on the option they can actually influence the game. Sending you one way of annother - such a good idea.
Item configuration - Really really good idea, and you can make your char look how you want.
Professions - I love the thing of sending off your companion to do them for ya.

Dislikes:

Space Combat - OMG its terrible. Soo bad, just seems they strapped another game on the side.
Lag spikes.. - hmm well it was beta it was expected.
PVP Balance - Currently up to lvl 20 atleast, ranged are OP as ****. As a melee its hard to lock them down - they can just kite stun, kite stun ect ect.

Overall I'm really excited for the release now. This game hopefully well just get better and I really hope endgame is there - only thing that could kill it. All in all, great beta, clearly saw the problems they have, raised a good amount of tickets. Was a well structured beta imho, one of the best I have been in, in years.

Bring on the 20th :)

Saturday afternoon was ready to cancel my pre-order, thought the game was ok but didnt really stand out. In every mmo I have ever played I am always mellee dps but tghe combat system just wasnt working. Couple of other people I know who have also been looking forward to it felt the same, rather than leave me wanting more the beta had put me right off :(

For some reason I didnt give up though and rolled a smuggler. Things then changed, the voice acting was fantastic the character felt alive it was perfect, the quests were amazing and the combat was a joy to play. Last night I got my ship, did a space combat mission and it was great fun and I actualy considered calling in sick today to play some more

Really disapponted with the melee force users. Jumped on my Sentinel this morning and got it to 18 and find it's lacking in every single department compared to every other class. Less defense, practically no CC's and less damage than being tank specced on other classes when it's meant to be a melee DPS.

Wish they would get rid of the rage mechanic and boost overall damage or make the abilities that require it do significantly more damage and give the class heavy instead of medium armor. The animations etc of the class are all fantastic but it feels completely under-powered to everything else i've played.

I won't even start on my juggernaught Sith Warrior, it's even more painful to play.

its an illusion of choice all that really changes is the dialogue the missions stay the same

Not actaully True, I've done a few area's twice, 1 following the Darkside and another following light side.

Like in the flashpoint - BT. You can choose to kill or no the captin. It makes it slightly differant in lore.

I played my war, got merked in PvP hardcore... So went on my Sin and melted face, was coming top 3 every PvP so thought maybe I was a little bit hasty on changing my war, came 2nd firs t game and thought yea' they are not too bad... Next 5 games mid of table and just died loads... However you can't base a games balance and PvP around early levels generally.

Yeah, they aren't too hot in PvP either. I came second in one match simply because i was never focused, all the other matches i'd end up around the middle of the table. Regardless of what the numbers were showing i never once felt i was particularly contributing much to the matches though whereas i have on every other class i've played.

And aye, basing class balance on low levels isn't particularly smart but the Sentinal/Marauder really does plain suck when put beside everything else i've played to the high teens/early 20's. Even reading the various feedback on the beta forums from the level 50 general testers it sounds as though it's just the same at max level with good gear. They just don't bring anything to the table whatsoever as any other class can CC better, do more damage and take more damage.

nothing really changes though.... apart from the cutscenes

I played a trooper first and thought it was OK, Rolled a jedi con and damn fighting with a light saber is just EPIC! I was so set on rolling a trooper I just dont know what to play next. Thankfully we have a few more hours to play yet :)

PvP Balance an interesting thing. I was thinking the opposite. ;) All those Jedis seemed to take a lot to get them down. My BH didn’t have any stuns at first and my knock back didn't seem to er knock back in PvP.

Not sure which to play, IA or BH in release now (Or the other side) Never considered the class at first but like the range, shooting mechanics.

A friend of mine was kind enough to lend me his beta access to this for the weekend. I have gone from being slightly excited and considering purchasing this to shocked and awed about just how awesome it is.

I'm a little worried about the lack of endgame, at that is what has killed many an MMO, but forgetting that for now, the questing is out of this world. Its like playing KOTOR as an MMO, I get to be just what I want to be, a twisted evil Sith who relishes a fight and hurts people for fun. At no point did I feel that I was grinding through quests, even though I made it all the way to level 20. The focus for me was on how the story developed, I didn't care about the levelling up, I just wanted to get more into the story. In essence it seems to me that you could play this game as a whole heap of single player games and completely ignore the MMO aspect of it, which is something I might do.

Is Esseles some sort of instance and where is it?

Fashpoint on the Space Station, you have to go passed the quest give when you arrive there after leaving your stater planet. for me its also one of the best ones as well, far far better then the Sith one which is called Black Talon, did not really like there one at all.

On my BH from about level 26+ I ate Jedi Knights as a light snacks, keep you distance, hammer them, when the close up, stun burn move away.

Still open, if you do apply pls say you from here cheers :p

Well said rids, its taken away the grinding cleverly through the brilliant story telling and quests. I did read somewhere though at around the mid 30s the main quest would be finished but dont quote me on that as im not 100% sure.

But i love it i cant wait to play it. Im sure it will only get better with patches just think how rift was at the start then after so many patches the game has improved.

Maybe I just need to level up a bit. Didn’t have any stuns at first. Plus I’m not sure Powertech the best choice, my shield didn’t seem to help. Maybe pure merc the best bet for the extra DPS.

Bah PvP server. :( I like battlegrounds not mindless ganking.

Yea, range seem to own hardcore :( Problem is, I wants a light sabre!

So did I at first but surprised how good the range was.

So I played most of the weekend & it totally reminds me of SWG-NGE smashed up with WoW.

It isn't bad & I did play all of the weekend, I got a level 10 jedi consular & level 15 sith warrior. I preferred the sith side personally , the story line was a lot better.

My pc is rubbish though so it lags a lot for me, but it was fun rolling around with my real life buddy doing each others missions.

I haven't found a proper open world planet yet though like SWG is there one? or is it basically instanced like the start?

I only played 3 chars to level 10 but from that limited game time it is a must buy, well I have purchased it already but that's not the point :)

One thing: Does the voice acting/cut-scene quest giving approach continue throughout the game?
