ATI Brethren - 11.11b "Performance Driver" (8.911.1 November 25)

I thought it was for generally a smoother experience, particularly in mp, higher scores etc.

Really? But surely you need a decent rig to power it to 120Hz. As above, it seems even a 6990 has to turn down graphical settings to reach it?

I am confused. I really don't see the point.

Better motion handling too. Lower settings with better motion looks better to my eyes than everything maxed with motion blur. It's the same with frame rate. 30 fps maxed can't compare to 60 fps at medium during gameplay.

not this bit of misinformation again :/

i read it in a photography and film mag a few years back... they were explaining something like why tv were at 30fps and why film was like 25fps or something but the frames were doubled... and how the human brain fills in the 'gaps' as they say with blurring... dont remember it at the top of my head now see if i can dig it up... but enough of that dont want to de-rail the thread...

I seem to have it running stable-ish for now, framerate still dips in cities and other areas but it's a lot better than it was. The graphical glitches seem to have disappeared too. I've only been playing for 10 mins but I went to the thieves guild which was where it was notorious for the gliching for me and it seemed all good.

This is a run down of what I did:

- Clean install of 11.11b, used driver sweeper in safe mode etc.
- I changed a couple settings in CCC:
*Tesselation; I unchecked 'AMD optimised' and checked 'Use application settings'.
*Catalyst A.I; I set this to 'High-Quality' (which is effectively off) and unchecked the box 'Enable Surface Format Optimisation'.
- Removed any fixes I have tried for example the DLL fix and RadeonPro profiles.
- Go to folder C:\Users\[Your Name]\Documents\My Games\Skyrim and delete Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini (This is only necessary if you have made alterations to these files)
- Go on Steam and right-click Skyrim and then Properties, go to the 'Local Files' tab and click 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache'.
- After this I loaded Skyrim, set my graphics back to Ultra and loaded up the game, this re-creates the Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini that I'd deleted earlier.
- I have changed ONLY 2 settings since in SkyrimPrefs.ini which is bTreesReceiveShadows=1 and bDrawLandShadows=1 .

I have absolutely no idea which one of these steps seemed to have fixed it for me but it's been winding me up all day so I decided to go balls out and try many things.

If I encounter any ridiculous errors again like I was last night I'll make another post.

PS. My graphics cards are 6950's (2GB).
