Sometimes I'm ashamed to be British...

For the record I think she is a div, looked to be on some form of uppers and probaly been drinking and shouldn't be looking after a child. Her behaviour was disgraceful and she should be ashamed of herself.

I don't beleive it should make anyone ashamed to be be British as she isn't typically British.

Also why is this any different from someone hurling abuse at someone being fat or having red hair or being a punk?

Quite, but I was trying to make the point that even if we remove the racial part of the diatribe, the use of language and the aggressive way in which she was acting is still a public order offence and more importantly unacceptable in a modern, supposedly civilised society.

She wasn't exercising her right to Freedom of Speech, she was abusing that right.

I said essentially the same thing.
**** off back home coul e turned into something like its better that immigrants stay in their own countries rather than come here as this country is filling up too much.

Essentially the same thing. Just said differently.

It wouldn't be much different though.

Being a punk is something that you choose, so I guess it's ok (up to a point) to criticise them for that. Like being a lib dem, it's ok to call them idiots who barely scraped some power.

However, you wouldn't start having a discussion on the finer points of immigration with a bunch of strangers on the Tram home......

If you were in a debate or specific discussion group then fair enough.....in the context and environment she was in, regardless of how she worded her argument she was still in the wrong.

I guess you pretty much call em what u like as long as it contains no reference to their race , sexuality or religion......it appears that this favours educated people and not illiterate drunken mothers on trains eh ??

Religion is fine. That's something else that's a choice. Not fair to pick on someone for something they have literally no control over at all. That doesn't favour anyone in particular. Pretty much everyone in this country has had the oppurtunity for an excellent education

Why do you restrict it to race, sexuality or religion? Also sexuality (maybe) but certainly religion are a choice and therefore not a comparison.

Eh? Harold Shipman was a murderer, this woman is merely exercising her right to freedom of speech, pointing out that Britain is overrun with immigrants. Can you see the difference?
