Sometimes I'm ashamed to be British...

Like I've said many times in this thread. She is a criminal, she is a abusing other passengers on the train, and it has been pointed out that she may well have been drunk.

So on those grounds, possibly her child should be taken away, not necessarily on the grounds of what she thinks :)

I'll agree with that but if my Dad started giving somebody grief I doubt I would get taken away now haha. I guess a totally different scenario though with the child's age and probably lack of a father figure.

Got to admire the person who refrained from hitting and calmness of the passengers though. If that was me getting abuse I would certainly not be sitting in silence. /keyboard :p

+1
Also, her lack of understanding of what is socially acceptable, shouting and swearing.

Theres a strong strong difference between the casual racism of my parents and that woman on the train. She was taking it to a pretty disgraceful level and she's "lucky" she had the kid on her lap or i doubt she would have been able to carry on that long.

And you think moving to Australia would solve your irrational fears about immigrants......

You do realise that as well as being an immigrant yourself (and subject to the same kind of irrational intolerance), Australia also has significant issues with immigration from South Asia and in some places you really would be in the minority...

And Canada is a far more multicultural place than the UK, again it has a large immigration population, especially from Asia, although Canadians can be far more tolerant of immigrants (including British) than Australians can be.

I find it quite amusing that you wish to move from Britain because of multiculturalism, yet are intending to move to one of two countries that are far more multicultural than the country you are leaving.

Spot on really...i havent lived in Canada for quite a few yrs, lived there for 20 yrs though. But my middle brother moved back there 7 yrs ago with his kids and wife and ive spoken to him about immigration and if Canada has any problems and hes told me of course Canada does and their biggest problem is the Oriental lot ie chinese, koreans, vietnamese etc etc....said that they breed like crazy and are literally everywhere epsecially Vancouver and Toronto...

Much like America and their inherent problem with the Mexicans coming over the border.

Doesnt matter how tough your immigration laws are, theres always a way to get by them if you try hard enough.

To add to what Castiel said, something like half of Canada is French ;)

Yeh but the english part of Canada cant stand those ****ers...thankfully they tend to stay in Quebec and are a minority compared to the english speaking Canadians:p...funnily enough 20 yrs ago or so they wanted to be independant from the rest of Canada...much lullzzz were to be had at the expense of those dimwits that are the french canadians.

I can't speak for cananda, but what I saw of Australia seemed to have all the problems Britain had 5-10 years ago. So I guess people will perceive it to have less of an immigrant problem

Australia has a population that has a larger percentage of immigrants than Britain, even if we exclude all the white European immigrants, the Chinese, Indians and Vietnamese make up around 10% of the population, the overall immigrant population is around 25% of the total.

Not to mention as a minority British immigrant he would likely be subject to intolerance himself.....ironically from a minority of attitudes not unlike his own.

I'm aware of that, but the problem people have with immigration is integration, and in that respect Austrailia has less of a problem. At least from what I saw (Perth, last year)

It is something promulgated by the Wahhabis as well. That movement originates in Saudi Arabia and with their oil money they are the ones funding a lot of the growth of Islam recently in the west.

The Niqab is not a requirement in Saudi Arabia.....again some women wear it. It is important to remember that in some cultural traditions the Niqab and Burka are symbols of wealth and respect ironically for women....

It seems anathema to us, but not everything is as it first appears.

Bottom line it's a sand mask and always will be.
Mind you the The Veiling of Virgins around 200 AD, praises the modesty of those "pagan women of Arabia used them :) (from wiki)

Right, I've just watched the video and have concluded that the woman in question isn't racist at all.

She is just simply thick as pig poo.

Dunno like man, picking people out for their colour and screaming unjustified abuse at them because of that is racist as is much as it is dumb. Lack of intellect does not remove the intent or cause, which as her drug addled face portrayed was one of simmering hatred.

Hatred is not borne from poor intelligence alone, so I have to say I don't agree with you. :p

I think that there are some significant issues in the Melbourne and Sydney areas as well as Cairns and the territories closer to the Asian entry points.....

Some regions in Melbourne for example are over 40% Asian.

And multiculturalism is not about segregation, it is about integration not assimilation. In this, both Canada and Australian are far more multicultural than the UK.....especially Canada who did not have a White Australia Program equivalent.

It was just the irony that the chap was whinging about multiculturalism, but wanting to move to a more multicultural society to escape it, which means he just wants to live in a whiter country....in which case he should just move to Devon.

Point taken. Ok, she's a thick junkie racist then. I stand corrected. :p

I do wonder whether the charming and eloquent Essex lady in the video was in any way related to the England football captain? I think we should be told.

On the positive side, her offspring did have a quite delightful Burberry cap :D

She's an absolute embarrassment to society and a complete moron, no one should be spoken to like that, regardless of where you come from.

However, I'm so glad race isn't as diverse here in Scotland! There's not very many white people on that tram? I have family who recently moved down south and were absolutely gob smacked that you barely see a single white person when you take a trip into town. Stating they can totally relate to the way immigration is portrayed in the media which I was shocked by.

You can't judge an entire race or country, though. I know a couple of Muslims who are good mates(although perfect examples of tax dodgers! :p) where as there's others who treat you like dirt and think their completely above you.

My other half has also been scared senseless at uni because of a Polish bloke who keeps staring/following/trying to get in the lift alone with her! Said of all the Polish people she's met, they are all utterly rude beyond any belief. Yet, I met a couple the other night who were very pleasant!

The same applies to us British folk, there's good and bad, you can't judge everyone the way that insufferable bint did.

I'm proud to have kids, full stop. If my wife had been black and my kids had been whatever colour they turned out to be, I'd be proud of them, too.
