cheap ebay copy turbot

Its easy enough to make a copy of a product, you can make something that looks the same as the original easily enough.

The problem is understanding why something is designed the way it is

Does something matter if its not quite right? does someone have to check something? As the original designer or an experienced manufacturer then you already know this, and why its the case. If you are cloning something then you have no idea.

The turbo shaped object you buy on ebay *might* actually work as a turbo

turns out there is more to the copy story. originally from germany, using a kkk rear end and genuine garrett gt35 front end. rear end is twin entry, cant remember the technical terms, but exhaust pulses, that sort of thing. the manifold however is an ATP log copy and doesnt divide the branches

if i rigged up a twin entry manifold i would gain loads in terms of spool time. any case, road trip is in a few weeks

the car will run NA for a while, ill gather parts (ecu, injectors, fuel pump, ic, tons of other stuff) and then do it in one hit, head has to come off for gasket stack/spacer

i wouldnt want more than 300lbft peak, but i want a big spread and id never outflow that blower, id have more spread if i could utilise the split turbine, but that would involve the cost of a tubular manifold, but if it because top mount that would be easier...

Definately not worth it IMO. Go to a scrap yard and remove a turbo off something, I'd rather that than some dodgy chinese copy!

Can't believe nobody has spotted

If you're wanting a good turbot, use this handy guide which was illustrated for us by another forum member :

Car
£1000
Blower and mani
£240
Megasquirt (would prefer DTA though)
£500, including loom, maybe injectors if youre lucky
exhaust and wastegate
£££s
IC and associated pipes, might need special inlet man too
£££

im not so fussed about that, the cost however is something that pretty much always spirals with cars.

the biggest technical issues i can see are to do with packaging. i dont have a lot of experience with MS, but i dont like the lay out of it. not as easy to work with compared to soemthing like DTA, which happens to be far more expensive!

The turbo will need an oil feed and drain, same for coolant, you will need the pipework in place to control the boost via a solenoid, unless you just want to stick a manual controller on there.

A full custom exhaust will not be cheap, especially given that it will need to be externally gated on the GT35.

Can the internals cope with any boost? Let alone from a huge GT35?

oil and coolant and drains are to be expected. boost will be mbc.

exhaust, thats going to be a pain. a 2.5" system wont cut the mustard.

internal are all forged, utterly bomb proof engine so thats not a concern./
