I have been following a thread on TP with great interest regarding home studio setups and really keen to give it a go especially with xmas coming up.
Does anyone here have their own setups at home and if so how have you done it.

I was thinking about getting the following:
paper screen and stand
2x youngua flashes with triggers to use as backing light with softboxs + stands

then id have my 430ex in an umbrella or sb for keylight?

anyone recommend a good screen website?
I saw these for £200 but wouldnt mind it cheaper ;)

That's a paper backdrop so after a few uses (if you're standing on it for infinity curve) you'll end up slicing it off due to footprints, crumples and general grime. You've got 11m, so in a home setup should last a while.

Remember though, at 2.72m it's a pain to fit into small cars if you do plan on taking it around. Even in the jeep they'd hit me in the head when going round corners :)

Yes I've got a mobile studio, it's paid for itself god knows how many times now!

I have:

2 x Elinchrom Prolinca 150W studio lights with softboxes to match, one large one small
Black Muslin cloth backdrop
White Muslin cloth backdrop
stand support system

Whole lot cost me around £350

The lights and the softboxes were second hand and the rest was brand new!

The muslin cloth isn't the easiest to work with but it certainly provides results!

I would personally look for second hand studio lights and boxes over flashes, you won't spend THAT much more and then you've got instant recycle times and almost unlimited usage without spanking loads of AA's all the time!

I took my current FB profile pic of me using said equipment.

Thx for the tips, surprised more peps havent posted would have expected more setups from the OCUK community.
Problem is I cant seem to find a decent low cost light system aside from the flashes, this still is fundamentally a hobby to me.
I may occasionally take it to friends weddings or family to practice but never paid work. so im not sure spanking £200-£300 on 2 lights would be good when I could get 2 flashes for £70??

Ask on places like TP, Purestorm etc and put wanted ads up - you'll find a bargain.

yeh thats a bit better, one light with stand and softbox would come to £170 with Lencarta which is ok I guess.
They do background and stands though which are cheaper then the other place which would come to £110 total so thats a win!

so il get all that (some for xmas) and another flash with unbrella and some triggers and il be rolling

background stands you can pick up about 45/50 quid but i went for lencarta one's because the stands are better built you can also use them as light stand sepratly
