CS:GO Beta Starting Today

Don't really know what they're aiming for with this :/

It's supposed to be a game designed for both competitive and non competitive players in mind. The big problem with CSS - appart from the obvious bugs/registration issues - was that valve showed little interest in updating the game for competitive players. CS:GO is supposed to include two different modes, one for the competitive play and one for public (atleast that's what I read :p). The game style is supposed to be a mix of 1.6 gameplay with source graphics to hopefully produce a game that both 1.6 and CSS communities enjoy along with being able to mix console / pc platforms which will bring quite a lot of money into competitive play if it's successful.

TF2 has a competitive mode for competition doesn't it? As far as I'm aware the mix of casual and competitive play in the same game worked for TF2 (untill they destroyed it with hats).

it was meant to bring 1.6 and css players together but if anything it just segments the players again with this left 4 dead version

The PS3 players act as the zombies.

I don't understand the concept behind CS:GO. It just seems like a patch for Source, with updated visuals.

If Valve had any sense, they'd back CSPromod for the best of 1.6/Source, sponsors would absolutely love it.
