Somebody asked me to trade my 1440 x 900 monitor + £20 for his 1680 x 1050 Advent monitor, ive seen it before and it looks really good. What is this resolution like for gaming and is it worth the trade?

Regards

it's the same aspect ratio as your current monitor (both are 16:10) so besides being able to show a little bit more in some games it's the same thing. Going to tax your video card a bit more so if you're already having fps drops they will worsen.

good point, it looks really good and shiny though :P. dont know if im going to go for it, need some more opinions.

the extra resolution will definitely be of more benefit when using windows/web browsing/applications. for games, i don't really care.

seems an odd trade for the other person though. they must be really desperate for 20 sheets.

the guy whos trading is a dumbass, he wants to trade it even though its in mint condition because and this is his words, he wants a "smaller screen" ROFL.

Gift horse and mouths come to mind...

Might want to check his monitor is not on the way out, google will be able to help you in that respect :)

I run all my games inc BF3 at 1680, I bought a 1920x1080 monitor but took it back for a few reasons, I honestly couldnt tell the difference, at 1680 I can apply more AA sp to be honest, even though its a very slightly smalled screen I thought my 1680 monitor looked better

I'm going to stick with 1680 and totally skip 1920x1080 until 27" monitors get cheaper, thats how little difference it made to me
