Hi All :)

The wife has got me £200 worth of OCUK Vouchers so I can upgrade my PC....

Currently:

Q6600 @ 3.4ghz
4gb RAM (have got 6 but makes OC unstable with all 6gb in)
Abit IP35 Pro mobo
ATI 5850 Toxic
64gb G.Skill Falcon SSD
1tb hdd
750gb hdd
320gb hdd
2x 20" Samsung P2050 1600/900 LCD monitors
Scanner and Printer
Logitec MX series 1800 DPI mouse
NRP-PC602 (600w) PSU

Mostly used for Gaming such as COD and BF2/3, with occasional Video ripping.

To be honest, I can't find anything worth upgrading for that price, what would you suggest?

I have no idea, not seen them yet, but assume she only bought them this week...
Is there an expiry date on them, if so, how long typically from date of purchase?

Edit, just checked the site, 24 months from date of purchase :)

Leave it and wait for next gen cards form ATI/Nvidia, sure they will be out within 2 years.

See thats a tough one, because normally it would be i5, new mobo. But i5 would need all of those :p

I'd say one of these

Your CPU may bottleneck it but thats a future upgrade.

I had considered a new VGA but my monitor can only do 1600/900 and my Q6600 @ 3.4 can hardly feed it, so would I actually see any benifit, at the same time an I5 seams like a side step rather than an upgrade...

What do you mean, hardly feed it?

How about another monitor to go eyefinity with? Some nice £70 speakers/headset. A new keyboard and mouse. Sorted.

Buy a new card with cash.

i take it, thats a 20" monitor at 1600 x 900 res.
how about a nice new shiny 22 or 24" screen, it will make a big difference,
also the HD5850 should handle it

or keep it until next xmas, and get another £200 voucher, then buy a SB setup

Having tested the 5850 with cpu @ 3.4 and 3.6, I can see a difference in benchmarks, so know that the card is being held back a little by the cpu, aso comparing scores against people with i& rigs and same card who get higher scores...

I already have a good keyboard and mouse and 5.1 logitec speakers and a pair of Seinnhieser headphones, though my creative soundcard died a while back so I am using the onboard card now, perhaps a new sound card then? though that won't improve any performance other than sound and I am no audiophile so would probably not tell the difference lol

As for monitors, not going to dump my two screens for one slightly bigger, and don't like eyfinity, screen borders would drive me nuts! plus on't have room for a third.

Hopefully, come xmas I can spare a bit of cash to put towards it and get something, but it's not looking worthwhile.
