Its time for the BBC to sack Clarkson?

Clearly the comment was in jest and far from offensive!
Im a public sector worker along with lots of others i know and found nothing offensive about the comment!
Okay, granted i don't agree with the 'Christmas shopping' i urgh, mean 'strike' day but still, the minority of people that were 'offended' by this should wrap themselves in bubble wrap and fragile tape and sit in the corner of a room with each other to avoid anything else offending their delicate selves.
This includes you Easyrider.

I'm pretty sure Easyrider is just winding people up here (as usual), I don't think I've ever seen him make a remotely serious post.

Has he always been like this?

I'm fairly sure calling everyone uneducated constitutes a blanket insult as well, doesn't it?

People should just get over it. If you listen to the full conversation, it's obviously satire.

Agreed. It wasn't all he said!

When asked what he thought of the strikes he said it was a great thing because the roads were all clear.

He then went on to say as its the BBC he will give a balanced opinion and then said that they should all be shot.

There was no malice or intent in what he said. It was a typical throw-away comment that has been blown widely out of proportion by people jumping on it to take advantage of their situation and "think of the children" types like Easyrider, it would seem.

I don't want my kids listening to these comments pre watershed.

I'll grant you that it wasn't really pre-watershed material, but the fact that he said something inappropriate for the slot is as much the fault of the producers of The One Show as it was of Clarkson.

So JC has no control of his bodily functions?

He has proved over and over again that if you put him in a situation and ask for his opinion he will give it.
The people to blame are the Producers and the people who wrote the question.
However, Mrs Dimple (Public Sector worker) has only heard one side of the story (probably like you have because I don't believe you watched the One Show) and when I played her the full film she understood and said 'Oh it's one sided reporting again, have UNISON heard the full conversation?'.
I'm also a Public Sector worker and when I'd only heard one side of the story it didn't offend me because it was Clarkson.
Something over nothing.

I hate him,

He's offensive ,unfunny and out of touch with reality.

Last night on The One Show Clarkson stated about the public sector strikes "I'd have them all shot. I would take them outside and execute them in front of their families."

"I mean, how dare they go on strike when they've got these gilt-edged pensions that are going to be guaranteed while the rest of us have to work for a living."

So I pay my licence fee for Clarkson to plug his DVD and denounce public sector workers? The Guy needs to be sacked from the BBC. It's time the BBC axed him. I wouldn't pay someone in the street to insult me so why am I forced into paying for Clarkson?

He did not state that, he jokingly added it after he stated he liked the strikes and was told he had to balance it as the BBC was supposed to e unbiased, he then clarified that it wasn't his view.

Try looking into something before posting instead of regurgitating what you heard 3rd hand.

whatever jeremy says, i take with a pinch of salt.

i can see why some people are on their high horse about the situation. as the comment was made during the time when children could be watching.

i think some of eastenders story lines are far worse.

hes like prince philip.

21000 compaints ? - with these things its always just people who dislike the comment maker anyway jumping on the bandwagon

people need to man up

21000 complaints about an out-of-context sound-byte that is actually the end of a joke directed at the BBC.

So. Many. Morons.

But Clarkson told the Times that he had informed the One Show's production team of the details of his joke. A BBC spokeswoman said last night: "Jeremy had a meeting with a One Show producer before appearing, as is standard for all guests. The meeting is to cover the topics that will be discussed and the expectations the show has around issues such as tone and balance, and it was made clear where those boundaries lay."

Article ...

I hate him,

I take it you know him personally then that or have you come up with that prejudice based on snipets of his personality viewed in public? There are more offensive things on tv (reality tv) than Clarkson making flippant remarks
