Wow, the OP is actually 21! I expected an age of around 14.

Seriously, if this is currently your biggest worry in life then you're very lucky.

edit//
Says he's 16 in the Op but is 21 according to his profile. Methinks he's on a wind up. Must be, surely?

Sorry for the misleading info on my profile when i signed up i wasnt sure if there was age restrictions :S

but he basically busted my lip and nearly knocked me out sparko :/ when my mum saw him she obviously then stepped in with then both argueing and him trying to swing for her to. And i do not ask for you to beleive what i say, nor your sympathy. I only requested the respect i deserve for someone in the situation i am in.

Well there isn't a law to stop a parent putting your PC out in the rain but there is for assault and domestic violence!

Answers simple then. Phone the police and get your dad sent down for assault. No more posters for a few years. :)

Thatnk you for all the replys, however it's been happening for as long as i can remember however he didnt start physically punching me until i was about 12-13. before then he'd just slap me wherever i had bare skin visable. But really cant tell the police due to the fact we will all get sent into care as i have anoter 2 brothers and 1 sister. And the younest brothers only about 9 and i think its unfair for him to have his dad taken away from him just because me and him are argueing.

Curtis.

Or maybe another way of looking at it is "is his big brother brave enough to stop it happening to him", it will you know.

Seek professional advice, this forum isn't the place. (Childline 0800 11 11 is probably a good start)

So what do you want us to do seriously. Either deal with it, or continue moaning and doing nothing.

Why will you get sent in to care? What would suddenly happen to your mum?

Right, now all joking aside you've put up a genuine issue.
Its out of order for any adult to beat down on a child, yea clip on the ear or a slap on the ass fair enough but id seriously advise you to speak to someone in regards to this. If its been going on for a few years then not only could it escalate further its the chance of screwing your head up, something you may not heal from.

I realise every kids and jokes, myself included but i'll think you'll find everyone here would agree that you need to seek some sort of help or advise!
Try taking your mother to the side and talk, explain your scared and getting down about it, grandparents or a close family friend, just do not bottle the issue up inside!

If you don't want to report him right away, then make him a poster stating that Domestic Violence isn't cool, real men don't beat on their families, and if it happens again the police will be involved.

Walk into the room, give it to him, say "Here's your ******* poster" and walk out.

This is an awful awful idea. The man sounds unhinged, how do you think a crazy person would react to that? I'd imagine with more crazy.

+ 1

Why does designing a flyer end in arguments?

Do exactly what he asks for. If its complete crap in your mind what do you care? he PAYED you to do it.

Customer is always right etc etc

PAID and you clearly haven't read the original post, never mind the thread.

¬_¬

He is trying to make you realise you have to make a living in the future for yourself one day and £10 is way to low for a poster, but not if you use that sort of spelling and grammatical error. People come to us designers because they can't do what they wish for themselves so they need to pay a professional, which should come at a cost.

however

Please show him this article about how much a PC ACTUALLY costs to run. Parents are all too quick to go, "OMFG it is using more power than a nuclear sub!!11!!"

However you should just make him the flyer.

You two also haven't read the original post properly, never mind the thread.

I would certainly talk to someone. Domestic violence is a serious matter and whether or not it's provoked, a father should not be hitting their family (or anyone else for that matter).

Poor example nomatter what's going on.

Ignore the sarcasm here, there is no harm in talking to an organisation like childline.

You may have helped yourself by giving a better explanation in your opening post though - understand it's a difficult subject though.
