US TV shows

What if you don't live in the UK! I don't see any member restriction to reside in UK alone. So should the mods also ban discussions about shows that haven't aired in other countries too!!?

Surely adding *SPOILERS* to the thread title should suffice. Or maybe open a thread with *UK AIRED DISCUSSIONS ONLY* in the title.

Frankly I can't see why we need to have more restriction enforced by the mods. It's getting quite ridiculous.

I hope that we can discuss US episodes as this section can be great, but is being held back by this silly rule imo. With the spoiler tags I can't see why anyone would have a problem with it.

It is a little silly how a lot of member aren't even from the UK and you can't discuss such aired episodes even with spoiler tags.

Have a separate thread for US/UK discussion if need be. Some people do follow the UK schedule and would like to discuss - they can post / read the UK thread.

Everybody else who want to discuss the latest episode (usually from the US) they can post and read in the US thread.

This is the best way.

And spoiler tags are alright, but fundamentally if you don't want to be spoilered, stop reading about your show on the net. (and/or don't read about it unless you are bang up to date) Which means for people following the UK schedule then they should be wary regardless of any rules/ spoiler tags/ seperate threads etc.....

I think it should be allowed as long as there is a precautionary warning that spoilers will be present. I find the discussions on the shows quite interesting and as mentioned before, not everyone on this forum is from UK. As for the legalities regarding people downloading the show, to what extent would you want to take action on that since there's discussions on other forms of media such as movies and music which people may have downloaded?

What annoys me are people who try to argue with the rule!! Ok the consistency isn't 100% but OcUK are forcing these rules on people.

Have either Homeland or Boss started airing in the UK yet? Hot tip for those looking for something new to watch. Both shows are awesome!

But it is pretty obvious how we watch them though. It's illegal. How serious it is I don't know. We are breaking the law by watching these TV shows.

lol wut... its not illegal to watch a tv program before its aired in the uk...

a lot of preople have us itunes accounts etc for this very reason

if you want to talk about legalities you should ask ocuk about the cd copying setups they used to sell back in the day :P

A few points here.
* A large amount of people on the forums do get shows before uk air.
* A large amount of said people enjoy discussing these shows the second they see them.
These points cant really be contested.
* The forum rules state that you are not allowed to discuss tv shows before uk release date.
* Discussing shows from other regions isnt a law, just a forum rule. There will be no legal prblems if discussion is allowed.
* Moderators are reasonable people who can possibly be swayed by a large amount of forum users requesting the same thing in a reasonable way
I dont think these points could be contested either. Which leads me to conclude the best way forward is a poll where people can vote weather or not discussion of non regional content should be allowed. There should be 3 options. Not allowed. Allowed. Allowed in a separate thread / spoiler tags.
I think enough people will vote on this to reasonably put our point across. I also strongly believe that anyone who has issue with non regional episode discussion would no longer have any issue if there were separate threads for separate regions.
This basically means that if the request was granted and people kept to a separate thread rule, no one would complain and there would be no legal issue.

This thread has kind of stopped. But there are still arguments occurring in the Dexter thread :/ Have the ops considered my proposal?

Having not downloaded...sorry, I mean watched the latest Dexter episode, I haven't dared look in the Dexter thread due to the idiotic morons who don't know how to use spoiler tags.

Whats going on in the Dexter thread?

There are perfectly legal ways to watch these shows in the UK. One way is to watch them in the house of someone serving in the US military over here, for example someone in the USAF living at RAF Mildenhall, RAF Croughton, RAF Fairford etc. They have US satellite TV on all these bases, and in the on/off base housing.

I think we should be allowed to discuss these shows, though I agree that people watching the UK shows should not have their enjoyment spoiled. Seperate threads would be the best way, I'm British and UK based but I watch american TV. I have no idea what has aired in the UK yet as I don't have Sky/Virgin, so I'd have no idea what to put spoiler tags around and what not to.

Is it through, the companies that make TV shows have never even once mention downloading TV shows, only movies. Nobody seem to give a ****, without downloading i would have never wtached BSG, i would never have blown good money on the Blu-ray box set! So in my case downloading/watching TV has made the company money!
