The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

How often do you guys actually use potions? I tend really only to use the odd poison one on the arrows, and draught of healing (I think that's the one, I mean the one that does 100 health recover). I've got about 50 potions I never use :/

I want to see the Dragon in all its glory, but yeah it would be cool to be able to use the environment to your advantage. I'm only a level 15 imperial with a crap hunting box and steel armour. Don't think I'm up to the task of chinning a dragon yet :D

Didnt you kill the dragon at the start of the game? They are not hard, i hear the ancient ones are tougher.

If you ignore fast travel you will use up a lot more potions. I tend to only use health pots and a few stamina while fighting, i keep a water breathing and inv ones on me, just incase i need them. Im immunte to diease atm.

Health regens far too quick to need many health potions. Another thing that makes the game too easy.

I had to use a few res to fire when going into the black soul crystal, infact i made and enchanted every peice of apperal i could to fend off the burn. Probably could have just bought a few pots, but that felt too easy and boring.

I don't want to **** on your parade but if you're a level 15 hunter in full steel armour with a hunting bow, you're doing it terribly wrong.

I think potions are related to the class character you use. No point using sneak and magica like potions if you use Warrior. If you use mage i suppose you would not use the warrior potions like increase one handed, increase armour etc. I am warrior and I use fortify potions all the time, and invisibility, sometimes too. My favourite one is my own brew of fortify carry weight.

I prefer if they are right in your face, using a certain dragon shout with two Ebony War axes tears a Frost Dragon to shreds in around 15-20seconds!

I think i two-hit kill those with my daedric mace called "The Last Touch". I one-hit killed a blood dragon yesterday but i think his energy bar wasn't full as Lydia somehow managed to get to him before me. :D

I use paralysis potions quite a bit. I love watching the enemies falling down stiff unable to get to me. The annoying thing is they dont work against everybody.

That resistance bug has messed my game up quite a bit. A frost dragon with one sweep of its breath nearly kills my nord with over 50 percent resistance.

From the sounds of things, weapons across the board are gonna get a huge nerf in an upcoming fanbase mod - they seem hugely overpowered! I'm pure magic myself, much more fun I find - though even with nearly 80% reduced destruction spell cost, I'm still only getting off a handful of dual-cast expert level thunderbolts before running out of mana and the damage over chain lightning barely seems worth it for single targets. Multiple foes are, of course, much more suited to the adept-level AoE spells. Looking forward to trying out the master level spells, whenever they show up :)

^^^ If your Enchanting is high enough you can cast spells for free, you know this don't you? You don't have to worry about running out of mana for the most time

Aye, but my enchanting isn't really high enough yet (can get up to 22% reduced cost), I've not really levelled alchemy much (it seems very slow to level, despite me making potions of pretty much everything I pick up along the way) and part of me really doesn't want to break the game by making insane destruction spells completely free to cast.

I know lol. Ok it's more than a hunting bow, but not by much. I think it's the dwarven bow with orcish arrows, enchanted so that if the target dies within 5s, I collect a soul gem.

You don't collect a soul gem, you fill a soul gem if you have one in your inventory big enough for the soul of whatever you just killed :p

I'm just looking at the Hi-Res screenshot thread and a fair few people play as females. A lot have done so in Oblivion too.

I've never bothered, but is there a great satisfaction of taking down a dragon as a female warrior?.. not to sound sexist :P.

I reckon that when I get the game I'll do so on one of my many run throughs.
