Just had a good session on my Favourite map atm Caspian Border

BF3 should have a join squad option in Battlelog or something. So many idiots don't squad up when joining a server. Fair enough that it's broken in a couple of game modes but it's fine in the mainstay Conquest and Rush modes. I've noticed that in TDM it's effectively useless as you can't spawn on squad but there's always the squad ribbons to win and bonus team points for ammo, healing etc.
 
Still can't believe they are nerfing air radar, now I need to rely on my next to useless teammates to spot something for me, fat chance that is going to happen. They are trying to force the game into a hardcore team play shooter, yet they made a grab for the casual MW3 market with most of them reluctant to do anything that will pass away their chance to get a kill, that or the spotting system is broken.

From the way it says it will still show "heat signature above threshold" I reckon it'll still show jets and choppers, which is fine. The problem was it was throwing up a lot of ground stuff it really shouldn't have shown in the first place, which I don't mind losing.
 
If there is a good pilot with all the unlocks tanks on caspian border stand little chance of even getting out the base unless I'm in the aa tank ;-) but quite often some newb runs of with the aa tank which totally stuffs the whole team up. This morning on Caspian Border we couldn't even get a tank out the base without it being ownt by 2 leet nme planes, but then I managed to get the AA Tank of a noob and we progressed to win the game from totally being Dominated.

That is one of the reasons I don't like Caspian Border atm. The foot soldiers are so overpowered by air power and tanks that it is absolutely pointless to run anywhere. Also, as you say, the AA tanks are the key, but often I see people using them as taxi or anti-infantry weapon.

If you get good pilots on Caspian Border and no AA, the game gets very unbalanced and usually one of them teams (most often American side) gets stuck in their spawn with planes and choppers destroying tanks even before somebody jumps in them (this should not be allowed and pilots should be kicked from servers for that IMO).

Also if you spawn back in your base you can see that half of the team is sitting there waiting for tanks/jets/hellis.

Right now, every time a server switches to Caspian Border I leave. Caspian Border is crap!

Beginning to think that the MAA should either be nerfed so you can have more than one on a map or that it can't aim 'down'.

I agree with you, you do get some idiot ruining the game because the misuse or are absolutely useless in the MAA. The scrambled for vehicles in 64 servers is madness, hate it when I load in last or have to change my customisation.

Well, it is the air radar unlock. I figured that's why the A10 and Frogfoot were slower than the jets: gives you a lot more time to spot stuff when you're in the pilot's seat, even if the spotting is a bit buggy.
 
The mines should be on a death timer or until you lay more down after death. its crazy on some maps the mine fields that get put down it only makes it easy for tanks to spot them and rack up easy points. Often the people that defend it are the ones using it. if mines are to stay then claymores should but think of the outcry.

I agree but now that stingers are basicly useless if the aa tank and plane pilots are noobs on your team you will get ripped to pieces by the nmes air support

Thats the nature of war/BF its been around since the start. stingers work if more than 1 person has them. + you have tanks that can shoot down air craft + the base aa + the mob aa + your aircraft. what more do you need tact emp strike. it all comes down to the team if your a poor side its ass kicking time. it happens to me but i bet not many of us think o we are kicking the other sides teeth in so i will swap sides.

I agree that getting penned into your base is the fault of the team and not the game mechanics, but I don't think strafing the uncap is ever OK. It's just cheap and low.

And this was my point a few pages ago. Every kicks off DICE do something then its the other side that kick off. We need to be careful that all this noise is basicly making everthing the same just a diffrent skin. there should be clear +/- to anything you use. if not whats next rpg that can lock on planes as people dont want to pick stinger as they cannot hit tanks.

Gun 1 does more damage than Gun2, but Gun 2 has a higher ROF giving it a comparable time to kill.

Gun 3 has a lower time to kill than gun 1 or gun 2, but less accuracy so needs more careful use.

Thats the way it should be, instead of people moaning that half the guns in the game are overpowered.

At least it was only the 12G Frag ammo that was nerved in the patch, as opposed to the USAS itself. As with buckshot its still very good, but very balanced in that its short range only, and you need a support class following you around at all times as it chews through ammo. That and its possibly the loudest gun in the game, you can hear it from halfway across the map !

I dont agree if your pushed back well thats it. Its not like the other side start outside your bas. you cannot expect the whole other side to return to base to be nice
