Whenever I download something from the internet I can hear some clicking noising like a HDD seeking. I was under the impression that a SSD doesn't make any noise - what could this noise be?

I only get it when downloading

Its the disapproving tutting sound from Steve Jobs beyond the grave, as you download pr0n onto the holiest of holy ssd's...

...on a more serious note it could be one of the fans clicking as cpu usage increases.

Is it really a clicking noise or more a faint whine or hiss? It's most likely loaded capacitors humming/vibrating away at hight frequency than anything else.

It sounds like a HDD seek. Don't know much about electronics/physics but the capacitor thing sounds most likely.

I will stake a lot of money on the fact it isn't the fan.

EDIT: Its the latest 13" version.

I refuse to believe its the fan. Happens on 2 Macbook airs (both the latest 13" model). Deterministically when downloading/large consistent storage usage.

It will be the fan. MBA's have SSD. No HDD noise.

Most likely a fan then, they can sometimes seem to catch on something making it sound like a clicking noise.

Hmm i have the latest 11" model and i download large amounts of data and never heard this noise before, As above i think it must be the fan.

Alright then, it's NOT the fan. Suite yourself. Can you get a video of it happening?
